Spice Up Your Life!

Every season, me and my old college roomie, Mookie [featured in a couple posts below!] always discuss what our "looks" are going to be! It's been very hard for me to choose this year because I haven't decided what looks best on me yet! After having my son, I made it a point to cover up my shape, but now I'm with Bey "if you got it- flaunt it" [on the 'Check On It' song!] :-) Friends always look at me like I'm crazy when I say I prefer loose clothes over fitted, but it's just become a comfort thing! I think now I've worked up enough courage to blend in with the rest of the females of America and show off my girl curves!

 

In doing so, I've also made it a point to liven up my face! With a pop of color, might I add! It's been so fun! 

It's such a way to be yourself and show a bit of trend without trying hard! Especially with this new Red- Orange color I got by [get ready!!] ........ 'Wet and Wild' ... It's their new collection called "MegaLast Lip Color" and boy is it great! I love it! It doesn't come off after 20 minutes and a sip of tea!

My favorite by FAR is the "Coral-ine" color, it's the perfect combination of red orange!!

As you can see, you don't even need a lot of makeup to wear it! It's perfect if you're just running out with your girls, or if you want to get fancy for date night! Birthday parties, lavish events and more!

As Usual! ...

I always feel bad when I don't have time to post to my blog! I hate when life gets so busy that I can't take a second to say what I really want!

But whenever I'm away, it's always for a great cause! I've been busy away with clients these past couple weekends, which makes my weekdays busy! I'm booked through July with styling events for clients, and for that I am grateful! Just to know where I've come from, to know that I'm actually stepping out of my shell to do what I LOVE is the BEST feeling ever!

Can't wait to share more with you once my salon opens, then I can really post pictures [I'm trying not to post most client pictures until then!]

More Donna Summer!

Donna Summer achieved a LOT in her 63 years on earth! There were a couple things that I was shocked as well as very happy that she accomplished in the music industry! Again, RIP Ms. Donna Summer.

1. Donna Summer was a five time Grammy award winner!
2. She was the FIRST artist to have three consecutive double albums reach number one!
3. Her Grammy for the song "Hot Stuff" was the very FIRST time the category "Best Female Rock Vocal Performance" was ever included!! [How MAJOR is that?!]
4. In 1998, she was the FIRST recipient of the Grammy in the "Best Dance Recording" category!!
5. In December 2099, she sang for President Barack Obama in Oslo, Norway, with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra as her backup performers!

RIP Disco Queen, Donna Summer

There are artists that I've grown up listening to, that I've grown to LOVE in my adult years. Donna Summer was one of them. The news of her death was a shocker to me. I always feel such a connection to celebrities, that when they pass, I literally feel like I've lost a family member. And that's when you know they've done their job.

For them to connect to their audience, and even those generations behind in such a way that you WANT to know them, is beautiful.

With this being said, RIP Disco Queen Donna Summer. Your impact on the music industry will never, ever be forgotten.

"She Works Hard For the Money"

Oh What GLEE!

I feel like I've missed so much of my life! So many friends tried to tell me to watch Glee since it first aired and I wouldn't ever bring myself to it because I didn't understand what it was about! Oh what a MISTAKE!! I caught an episode last night by default and now I'm in Glee overload!!

What was I thinking?! These people KILL these songs! They sound AMAZING! I love the theatrics! My favorites thus far are the dark haired girl [I don't know their names yet!] and the guy in the wheelchair has a voice on him too!!

So far, these are my favorite clips! I'll be adding more as I watch!

"How Will I know" ... BEAUTIFUL!! I lost it [laughed really hard!] when the boy came on set! They just know how to add the comedy, and still make it relate-able and great! Perfect!

"Summer Nights" ... PLEASE! The part where the guy comes in at the girls table just SENT me SO bad! I'm losing it! He cracks me up!

"Let Me Love You" ... This song has so much value! This was always me and my best friend's lucky song growing up! Something good always happened after we heard this song!

Work It, At Work!

Who says you can't be fashionable at work?! Wearing suits every day to the office is a thing of the past! As women, we now have the right, and know how, to show off professionally! I hate going to work looking drabby! It makes me feel drabby throughout the day! When I put my best shirt forward, I feel and work better! I of course, don't go "all out" as I would if I were hanging out with my girlfriends, or going on a date with my beau! But these days, stores have made it so easy to dress your part for work!

All you need is a blazer to complete each look [except the first one of course!]! You can definitely go straight from work to happy hour in these outfits!

Add a chunky or skinny belt for a hot finish!

Add a solid belt with a playful work pump!

Prom Season

So my little cousin, whom I've donned "my shadow" [only because we adore each other!] went to her Jr Prom this past Saturday! I was soooo excited for her! I love my baby! We're super close and she's practically with me every chance I get!

Okay, back to her Jr prom! I was so sketchy about her dress because it's so non traditional! It has more of a birthday, or party type theme, than prom, but seeing her in it after she was fully dressed threw all my prior notions out of the window!

PLUSH Blog Open Call!!

I recently held an Open Call for the Washington, DC Metro Region, for women interested in a "Mini Makeover" to be featured in the "Fashionista Guide" section of the blog! The uproar of responses was amazing!! The photo shoot is scheduled for Sunday, May 20th, but with the overwhelming response, I may push the date back to June to give everyone a time to prep themselves!

This was so unexpected! I was ready for maybe about 10 responses, but the world seems to be ready for a new look! And if they weren't personally, they had makeover gifts for their loved ones!

Because I'm an Image Consultant, open to new clients, I work one of three ways! This will all be featured on the Salon website when it opens, and is given to clients as they request consultations!

1. We can spend NO money and put together different looks from your closet! I call this "Closet Check" This method is exciting because the client gets to see different takes on clothing items, how to wear outfit choices/ options, and how to accessorize from what they already have!

2. My ultimate favorite! I call this "Shopping Day" Me and the client go shopping together! It's there chance to try on different options, sizes, fits, colors and styles and purchase things for their body type! This is so fun because clients have a chance to view themselves in items they never thought of wearing! [This is completely based on clients budget!]

3. Last, for those who despise shopping and the mall, or your every day on the go person,  I have what is called "Personal Shopping Days" It's pretty simple! After consultation, I go to the mall and do the shopping for you! Items are delivered to your door! You only keep what you like!

Summer Drink Treats!

Nice weather always gets you in the mood for hanging out in the warm weather, relaxing in the shade with an ice cold cocktail ... well that's how it works for me anyway! My ultimate favorite summertime cocktail is a Margarita of practically any type, however if I'm in the mood for a stronger one, I'll opt for a patron margarita!

I did a little research and saw that Margaritas [a drink made up of classic tequila cocktail, lime juice, sugar, and cointreau, with optional salt on the rim of the glass!] are on the top of the list of Summer Cocktails! Watermelon Margaritas are the perfect summertime combination! Watermelon always shines as the best summer fruit and is also one of the tastiest, healthiest treats!

Here are some of the contenders of great Summer Cocktails!

1. The Ultimate Lemonade

Lemonade and summer go hand in hand! But now try your lemons with a twist! Throw some vodka in that mix, and serve yourself an "ultimate lemonade" ... I've had this at a restaurant last summer sometime and it was GREAT! It was sweet, very chilling, and not heavily saturated in alcohol! You can also substitute limeade for the lemonade, or even both if you have daring taste buds!








2. Mojito

CLASSIC! That's enough verbiage to sum this drink up! Made up of a balanced mix of mint, lime, sugar, rum and club soda! I had my very first mojito this past month in Aruba! My brother forced me into trying it after I was convinced it would be this disgusting mint flavor, but nope! It was great! The presentation is beautiful, and the drink itself is quenching!








3. "Ciroc Chic"

 I hadn't heard of it until now, but I will definitely give this a try! Ciroc has become my vodka of choice since the Redberry flavor came out and I have been hooked since! It's made with the fresh blend of pineapple and pomegranate juices blended with, of course, Ciroc vodka!













4. Sidecar


This drink has such a "drink me" appeal!! I would love to taste this! The sugar rim, makes me first think that this drink is sweet, then to know there is lemon juice packed inside makes it all the better! The other beverages are cognac and cointreau!

 5. Aviation





Cool name huh?! I've never tried it, but I'm really interested! This drink just looks so cool! Mainly because it doesn't look like it has an overwhelming alcoholic taste! This drink is made up of gin sour with cherry liqueur!
