May 6th, 2013- Gold Cup Recap
The Kentucky Derby and Virginia Gold Cup was this weekend and fashion was out in full force. Floppy hats and pretty sundresses were gracing the horse races as were pleated pants and blazers. Lilly Pulitzer prints and Vineyard Vines solids were rampant on the fields. Here are some casual snapshots from Virginia Gold Cup to get our readers ready for spring and Preakness.
The Virginia Gold Cup is a century old tradition. Hundreds of people flock to the steeplechase at a chance of winning big at the betting tents. Betting tents were swamped with high fashioned, high rollers. Shawls and khakis were a perfect item for the day and sunglasses made an excellent statement infront of the gambling arena.
As expected, hats were the main attraction for the main event. Full sun hats or small fascinators were just darling accessories for the vibrant dresses. Bauble necklaces and chunky watches adorned necks and wrists this weekend as the food and beverages were plentiful.
The ladies looked spectacular on Saturday. A sundress was the look to love but some ladies wore skirts and rompers to mix it up. Urban Outfitters, Victoria Secret and Trina Turk dressed the ladies above. Fearless prints and spaghetti strap styles looked stunning in the daytime and transitioned easily to night with a cardigan.
Gentlemen wore a variety of fashions including blazers, bow ties and pocket squares. Bright separates looked stunning on the green this Saturday. Plaids and solid button downs looked pressed and perfect with bright pants and shorts. A belt and Croakies tie the ensemble together for these gents.
Bags and jewelry are a must have for any horse race. Pearls and monograms complimented more basic, white dresses and fun bags added color to others. Chevron was the print of the event and the Tory Burch brand was out and about this weekend. Wedges and flats go best for the occasion due to the grass floor.
Under the tent was an array of shoulder bags, belts and button down shirts. Keep an eye out for more preppy fashions at Preakness this month!
April 29th, 2013- Weekly Trend: Clear Shoe Panels
April 22nd, 2013- Floral Nail Designs
Spring has sprung and we are finally seeing warm weather, sundresses and flip flops. What better way to show your favorite season some love than a floral manicure! Pastels are starting to be seen and floral prints are a long standing staple of spring. Here are some styles to try yourself.
Pink is always a fab spring color. The light pastel shade is neutral and goes with almost any ensemble. You can have a pink background and any color flower you want! Pink on pink is very popular or you can add in some purple for a complimentary effect. You can have one flower, a french ti or a finger full of a bouquet. Your choice!
Eggshell blue is also a great color for the new season of life. It represents the blue, clear skies around you. A blue background looks stunning with pink or red flowers. The green leaves also pop on a light blue canvas. Mix up your flowers or add more patterns for a funkier manicure.
By adding basic patterns to your nails, you can create a retro look to your floral manicure. Polka dots are a great addition to this style. You can add white dots to the background of your mani or you can go every other nail as a plain dotted nail. Stripes also add the same effect. Mix and match any way you want to.
Last but not least, don't be afraid to try new things with your nails. Try a color like hot orange that you normally would avoid. You can also mix your color palette to create a funky new look. Add a glue on flower for a really glamorous feel! Try one of the looks above to get in the mood for spring.
April 15th, 2013- Weekly Trend: Stomach Area Cut Outs
Midriff cut outs are this week's trend to watch. Either slits on the side or a peek-a-boo cut out to the front of your gown is flirty and fun for this season! This trend is racy and fun for formal or casual occasions. New York designers previewed this look for the upcoming season.
Celebrities like this cut out ensemble for photo shoots and red carpet events. Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence and super model Miranda Kerr look darling in their front tummy cut outs and Jessica Alba cuts out the sides only showing a peek of her middle.
Two major dress colors are best for this spring trend: white and floral. The cut outs look best with these colors because your skin is better contrasted with these palettes. Any cut looks stunning with these frocks; you'll have to find the most flattering to your body type. Make sure the fit is right so the dress won't be uncomfortably fitted.
Long dresses also look darling with the middle altered out. You can find these gowns for formal events or just a chilly evening out. Cotton dresses are best for nice dinners and chiffon fashions are best for weddings or galas. The peek-a-boo show of skin makes this heavy fabric look much sexier.
You can select the look that best suits your personal style. Bigger cuts are more risky and bold for the more bohemian fashionista whereas the smaller slits are reserved for more conservative dressers. Neons and solid grays are available in this style and both are great for daytime wear. Find the color and length that suits you!
April 8th, 2013- Weekly Trend: Warmer Weather Vests
Vests are a hot accessory for the warmer seasons and this week's trend. No, not knit vests that layer and provide heat, but a light fabric open vest. Jean vests, specifically, are darling for spring and summer. The can look stunning over a casual dress, a short/shirt combination or a long dress or pair of pants.
The jean vest look creates a very hipster, alternative ensemble. This item looks stunning over a a light day dress. White and denim is the best combination but a flowing patterned dress looks great with jean as well. Pair this item with boots or a fun summer hat to create the ensemble.
Skirts also look stunning with the jean vests. Long maxi skirts or midi skirts look great with a cropped vest. Dark or light denim is an acceptable look for this trend. Pockets and vintage Levi's buttons make each piece trendy and chic.
Jean vests are great with solid pants. You should never mix jean with jean. Since this isn't the most feminine cut top, you'll want to wear solid skinny pants to compliment the vest. Long or cropped vests are both acceptable for the pant look.
Jean vests also look great with fun embellishments. Pearls, flag accents and crocheting are great accents for this trend. The USA style is perfect for a summer concert and is available at Forever 21. The ombre look is fabulous for a hot summer day at the beach. An embellished look is better over plain clothing. A little black dress is best for these looks.
Finally, if jean is not your fabric, there is a vest look for you. Suede, animal skin and cut off army jackets also make great vests. These more natural colors and fabrics compliment ethereal looks and are more bohemian than the jean vest. Whatever your style is, find a vest that works for you.

The trend has also found its way onto accessoires like jewelry and bags! A simple bike necklace is airy and fun for a more plain ensemble. A Ring or bag can also show your love of exploring via bike.
Don't forget your helmet while traveling on bike this summer! Ride safe!
The trend of the week is a fun and funky fashion that will have you thinking of the Jetsons. Futuristic clear paneling is fierce and fun for spring this season. Featured on Alexa Chung on the cover of Elle and on the 2013 runways for the spring collections. There are a variety of styles for any fashionista who wants to take part in the trend.
Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Lala love this clear panel trend. These shoes allow the peep toe look to be fresh and pointed while supplying support to the side of your foot. This heel looks best in black but neons look stunning with a duller ensemble.
As with most trends, this one started on the runway. Chanel debuted this 2013 look for spring during their collection showcase. The look was shown with a clear strap and arch over the foot. The look has been copied in various ways to include a variety of colors and solid supporting straps. The most classic color suits this shoe best.
The clear panel heel has transformed into more vibrant styles. Neon pink, green and yellows look fabulous for spring. You can rock this look casually with jeans and a plain white shirt or dress up your little black dress. For the more adventurous dresser, spiked versions are available online and create an edge that you can die for.
The clear panel look also looks stunning on flats. If you don't like the heel look, clear panel flats are a fun daytime look that rock the trend. The shoes are minimalist and only cover your toes and heels. Be sure your feet are clean and keep your paneling out of dirt or grime as to keep the clear, crystal clear.
Check out the montage above for some inspirations for this week's trend.
March 31st, 2013- Easter Egg Fashions
Easter is finally here! We are in the midst of Spring and Easter is this weekend. It is time for dresses, flowers and eggs! The trend this week is using eggs in a fun creative way inspired by fashion! The looks above are just 2 ways you can use your color coordinated eye and flare for home design to make Easter fun and fabulous.
A great way to get your kids involved with fashion this year is by incorporating it into your Easter egg hunt! You can fill your eggs with nail polish for little girls who love to paint their nails. You can also stuff larger eggs with small accessories like socks or hair ties.
Jewelry makes the perfect egg stuffer. Hint for all males out there: an engagement ring is the perfect egg stuffer! Earrings, rings and bracelets are great for little girls on their hunt. After, they can trade their findings for better bounty in other eggs!
Another fun way to play with fashion this Easter is to dress your eggs! Wrapping fabric around your wooden eggs or empty shells make a fabulous centerpiece. You can give them as party favors, a thank you gift or a fun entrance way embellishment.
The final way to make eggs fashionable this holiday is to DIY your own versions! The looks above are all affordable and can be accomplished by almost any crafter. The first egg collection only reuqires spray paint, regular paint or glitter. The look below is accomplished with googly-eyes and glue. Last but not least, you can use everyday news paper and modge podge to finish your retro eggs. Happy Easter!

Here is an adorable spring trend for all you fashionistas out there. Key necklaces are blowing up the fashion scene and look fabulous for spring. Whether you are a dainty feminine dresser or a funky gal with flare, the key trend can work for you. You can find this trend in movies, on celebrities and on modern day women everywhere. They're available for sale on Etsy, in boutiques and at the best jewelry store in the world Tiffany & Company.
Celebrities love this trend and wear their kets on and off camera. Selena Gomez has been spotted rocking the trend to red carpet events where Pop sensation Taylor Swift wears her key necklace more casually. You can wear a key from a practical door or box or buy one in stores like Leighton Meester's character Blair Waldrof on Gossip Girl. This style icon got her's at Tiffany's of course.
Regardless of style, there is a key necklace for every girl. You can wear a chunky key for added flare to a plain black top or a dainty fashion for your blazer and preppy days. Keys can be gold, silver, rose or even wooden. Most like bigger keys on longer chains and girls that have a more classic style like simple and short.
For traditional style women, the dainty option is by far the best. Some keys can be monogramed with your initials to add to your preppy style. Tiny gold keys can be worn plain and simply with a button down or can even be layered for a summertime boho chic look. Gold and rose gold are among the most popular metals for this look.
If you're more of an original stylist, you can participate in the trend alongside your dainty counterpart gal-friends. Chunky key styles are retro and fun with a jean shirt or jacket and oversized keys provide a funky flare to a little black dress. Stacking multiple keys or selecting a non-traditional necklace look can add to your original style.
For a Do It Yourself look you can copy Fossil's look by painting your own keys! The vibrant colors lok perfect for the warmer weather seasons and will look flawless with multiple ensembles. All you need is nail polish, some old keys and a chain and you've got the look!
For those of us with a little more cash in their pockets, you can afford the cream of the crop for this trend. Tiffany makes an amazing key line for any girl with taste. Check out the Tiffany and Company website to shop for your favorite styles.

A classic baseball shirt is also fun for spring. Green sleeves or a green solid middle is darling for this item and you can even rummage up an old sports team with a green logo to be sporty. A body con skirt can stretch and provide a feminine edge to the ensemble.
Look number 4 is more sexy and evening appropriate. A sheer chiffon top and green mini skirt is fun and flirty for the holiday. Heels will elongate your legs and booties will make you appear long and lean. Pair with a black or brown bag depending on the shoe color.
You can also go boho chic for the holiday. A basic V-neck shirt or a crop top looks free and ethereal with a long flowing maxi skirt. This casual look is best with stacked jewelry such as necklaces and bracelets.

Evil eye jewelry is adorable for this week! Spotted on Kim Kardashian and other stars, these pieces are absolutely cute. The eyes look good on all kinds of jewelry: necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets. The look is boho chic and can be stacked and layered to your heart's desire.
Evil eye charms, or Nazars, are supposed to protect you from evil spirits. Mainly produced in Turkey, Jewish countries and Arabic areas. Primarily from the Middle East, you can buy them right here at home. Defy evil forces or possess other powers. Different colors as shown above give different strengths.
Dainty necklaces are chic for this season. They don't over power your ensemble and easily transition from day to night. These tiny pieces are classy and understated but can be stacked to create a chic hippie effect. Gold or silver look stunning with any outfit.
Stacking is the trend for warmer seasons. As springtime is upon us, you can wear your evil eye bracelets in style! Buy a whole bunch in various colors or find a simple single eye to wear with gold, silver or woven bracelets. You can also stack on a big statement watch for extra chic-ness.
This trend is also a high end trend. Designers have been incorporating this look into their high quality pieces. Real turquoise stones, real gold, diamonds and oyster shells adorn these eyes for an obscure, unique look.
Last but not least, this jewelry trend wears itself on fingers and ears! Evil eye earrings are super cute for an afternoon out avoiding evil spirits! A ring on a finger can be chic with a simple ensemble and simple accessories. Shop online and in department stores for the looks above.
February 17th, 2013- Weekly Trend: Leather Jackets
Leather jackets are perfect for this week's fresh trend. Whether you're a hard core rocker who loves black leather and studs, or a sweet plain jane type of lady, this look can work for you! A cropped black look or a lengthy look in color is cute with almost any ensemble this spring.
Black leather is the most classic look for this trend. The plain black has a little bit of an edge. You can match it with studs, spikes and hardcore accessories. Red lipstick, punky glasses and a black bag to match complete the look. Cropped, full length or extra zippered jackets are gorgeous for this trend.
Brown is a softer side to this style. Dark browns are best for the transition from winter to spring. This look is flawless with jeans, black pants and white bottoms. The lighter brown is a cute day time look for afternoon coffee. You can mix and match other colored leather bags to complete the look.
This hot item looks smashing with jean shorts, vibrant colors and girly ensembles. A long maxi dress, flowing skirt or cute blouse all compliment this leather piece perfectly. By wearing bright colors and dressing in a super feminine way you can offset the harsh edge created by a black leather jacket. Jean shorts will be perfect for spring and summer with this weekly trend.
Red and burgundy are also clutch colors for this trend. The red is the only color you need in your entire outfit! Jeans, a white top and some simple accessories can be easily dressed up with this leather piece. The red is bold and reminds people of James Deans' style in Rebel Without a Cause. This throwback piece is surprisingly modern and fresh.
Last but not least, don't forget about your springtime colors! Blue, green and turquoise are all fresh looks for spring. You can pair this look with basic whites or blacks to offset the vibrant colors. Go shopping for these looks in high end boutiques and in department stores everywhere.

January 20th, 2013- Weekly Trend: Flag Swag
Monday lends itself to a very historic and memorable occasion: The second Inauguration of our first black president AND Martin Luther King day. These two events combined make every American feel patriotic on this very important day. Why not show it through fashion? Flag Swag is the most appropriate trend this week as you'll see fashionistas rockin' their nationalistic pride all work week long.
Sweaters are the perfect way to show your country love! The American flag can be traditionally straight across, much like the Old Navy logo, or printed in a unique way in varied patterns. Having the stars chunked together on a sleeve in a different location than top left gives the flag a hipster flare. The over-sized look is chic this season so don't be afraid to wear it largely!
If you don't want to invest in a full fledged outer garment, a T-shirt can be your compromise. A summer tank is the best way to rock this look! You can make it winter wearable with a blazer, jacket or cardigan. Finding a long sleeve blouse that buttons down is also perfect for USA parties and beach wear.
Can't wait until summer? Invest in a statement piece today! You can re-wear these items for the Fourth of July and all summer long. American flag garb is extremely popular and are sure to rack up the compliments. You can buy the items above or create your own versions by means of patching, sewing and spray painting.
Last but not least, you can wear some Inauguration Day accessories to inspire some festivities. Scarves and flag jewelry are the perfect little accent to any ensemble. When all else fails you can rock the red, white and blue or buy a pair of USA Toms to help a child in need. Be proud of your nation and show your own flag swag.
January 14th, 2013- Weekly Trend: Finger Tattoos
This weekly trend may not be so easy to take part in. Finger tattoos are super trendy and ultra permanent. To be apart of this trend, you'll need to commit. Finding a saying, symbol or letter that is meaningful to you, enough so that you want it with you forever, is the difficult part of this trend. Finger tattoos are dainty, adorable and super hot right now in fashion.
Celebrities love finger tattoos! Miley Cyrus has a tiny cross on her finger to accompany her giant dream catcher on her ribcage. Ashlee Simpson has a trendy peace sign on the outer part of her middle finger. This give peace a chance statement is intentionally placed on a finger that usually represents hate. Rihana also has "Shhh..." tattooed on her finger as a fun, cheeky tattoo.
A simple symbol is chic for this trend. It is small, barely noticeable and perfect for hiding during interviews and at the workplace. You can hide these symbols on the side of the finger or under a ring or glove. An anchor, music note, or meaningful item can be placed on any finger in any position.
Once word tattoos are also cute for this trend. Find a single word that is meaningful to you or someone you love. Popular words are "love" "live" "youth" and "promise" on your pinky! The pinky promise tattoo is a cute and fun way to show your commitment to a loved one.
This trend is also overwhelmingly popular for love birds and hopeless romantics. The initial of a fiance, loved one or recently married duo is a charming way to show your commitment. The gesture is romantic and very permanent. You can place it on your ring finger next to your wedding ring so even when you take it off to wash your hands, the tattoo will stay with you.
The phrase is the boldest way to rock the statement trend. You can find a string of words that are meaningful to your life to place on your finger. However, be careful you go to a good artist. Some tattoo parlors will not place art on your finger because it may bleed together. Don't go too overboard with letters to avoid the blending. Here are some more ideas for the trend below!
January 7th, 2013- Weekly Trend: Mustard Skirts
Is your resolution this year to be more stylish? We have the perfect solution for you! Mustard skirts are this week's trend. The mid-length skirt is the most popular look for this trend. The skirt should hit your knees or just above/below the knee. This length is perfect for formal occasions but doesn't make you look like a granny because of the hip color and paired accessories. This look is cute with flats or heels and the skirts usually have a pleated look to break up the grand use of fabric.
Last but not least, the pencil skirt in a mustard color is darling for work attire. This staple can be paired with a flawy blouse or button down Oxford shirt to make the look work appropriate. You should always wear a pencil skirt with a heel and accessorize appropriately. You never want to overdo the jewelry in a work setting. Black, navy and white are the best complimentary colors for this look! Shop at high end department stores for the look above! Happy New Year!

You can wear your jean either cut off or rolled up for this style. You don't have to worry about your short being too short because the tights cover your legs creating the illusion of coverage. Black boots or booties look perfect with this combination.

Overskirts have served various purposes, ranging from protecting the underlying clothing from mud and dirt, to now being purely a decorative feature. a definite must. Cut outs from the sides and other unexpected places in a suit also
give a sexy peek-a-boo look perfect for tanning. The “cheeky bottom” or
Brazilian cut is also perfect for girls that want the perfect rear tan and a
flirty beach look!
Furthermore, adding sexy details like fringe, sequins, studs,
extra straps, or extenuating ruffles are a sensual must! Even sexy patters like
cheetah print can fit the mold for this summer.
Whatever you choose to wear on the beach this summer, the
sexiest thing of all is confidence. Be attentive to your body type and what
looks best on you! Push the limits but make sure you’re comfortable in what
you’re swimming in. You want to wear the suit, you don’t want the suit wearing
you!
Try Asos and even Amazon for affordable plunge options. For more swim styles, turn to Victoria Secret for answers. As always VS
is the master of all things sexy. Happy trending!
August 13th, 2012- Weekly Trend: Outrageously Cute Nails
-->
Longer nails are ideal for the trend and
acrylics with these accents already fastened on are available for purchase
online. Try out Etsy for some suggestions.
Although you must be careful while
wearing the trend, the look is definitely worth being ginger with your hands.
This cheeky style is perfect for day wear to really show off your feminine and creative side. Small beads or even paint dots that resemble
pearls reveal your classier side where little painted bows and glitter can show
you’re playful and cheeky. Feel free to experiment and go crazy on your nails!
With so many ways to wear this trend, your hand is our oyster!
August 5th, 2012- Weekly Trend: Color Me Fabulous
Bright lips are this weeks trend to watch. This trend is
being sported by stars like Kesha, VV Brown and Emma Stone.
The brightest lips at the party are the biggest hit!
The crazy colors can be
worn in more traditional lip tones like pink and red or in more outrageous
shades like green and turquoise. The trend can be worn to more lavishing
occasions or for a flirty fun shock out in the evenings. Pick your own lipstick
to match an outfit or your eye color. At around $15 a piece you can give this trend
more than one try! Check them out at Kaoir.com
July 30, 2012- Weekly Trend: Dazzling Body Jewelry
This week’s trend has got us all wrapped up… in sliver and gold! Stars and citizens alike have been adorning unique body jewelry over clothing to show a creative flair for bling. Over-doing it seems to be the calling card of this fashion trend. Often paired with a more relaxed outfit, these pieces can range from $50-$200 range.
For those of you who are more thrifty making these pieces can be easily accomplished by a visit to a turnover store or flea market. Get in on the trend like Ashley Tisdale and Keri Hilson by shopping on Etsy!
July 20, 2012- Weekly Trend
A few pictures of normal people living in their neon lives!!
These shorts are soooooo creative! My Style Assistant knows someone who designed these and I thought they were amazing! The studs add a final touch of trend and style!
These leggings are so cute! The hot pink color instead of the typical white zebra stripe is so different! This picture was actually submitted, I would've uploaded the entire outfit, but the top was 'barely there,' in place of other words! Thanks for the submission!!

[Cont'd from main page] I always tell my son, "Put Your Stunna Shades On!" and he's like "Mommy, stun shades" ... LOL! I got that saying from a song, and I love having a son so that he can say that! It's saying something like "swag" shades! Well, at least that's my take on it!

April 12, 2012- Keeping Up With The Kardashians ... Isn't a bad idea!
What don't these girls have?! Beauty, brains [they are SO business savy!], they dress their you know what off and they're oh so humble! I know I've said this before but that Kourtney K has taken over in the style department! While Kim has her signature looks that she can't go wrong in, Kourtney can pull off ANYTHING! She may be petite, but her body KILLS and she knows how to make anything look perfect on her! She never overdoes it! I love her style! Check out these looks and their inexpensive remakes!

April 11, 2012- White On!!
Lately, I've fallen head over heels with the color white! I've been buying it like CRAZY! A couple years ago for summer, I invested in a barrell of white tees and wore them with lietrally any and everything and just dazzling them with jewelry! I'm thinking of bringing that back for my Spring look! White jeans have also been catching my eye! They're so perfect! You can wear white for chilling, basic days, or dress it up for more fun!
Check out some of my faves!!!
February 28, 2012- Academy Awards Red Carpet Faves!!

February 14, 2012- Heading out Valentine's Day Style!!!
Heading out with your beau tonight?! This weekend?! Not sure what to wear!? Look no further! Here are some looks for every style type! Whether you're a chill dresser, or a glam girl! Using my favorite stylistas as your guide, check out some of these items as your choices!
Looks to Chill:
Kim K is the blazer QUEEN! Love this cognac mixture, however I think it'd be great paired with these Hudson Acid Wash jeans! I so love this wash.
Loose shirts like Rihanna is sporting here are PERFECT with a themed blazer! Perfect for a chill date, with a little play dress up! Blazers add the finishing touches to any plain shirt!
High waist jeans are PERFECT for an hour glass shape, and because this denim is long, throw on a classic wedge for a dressy look! This look is very casual!
Kourtney's look is similar to the high waisted jean- however, her flowy shirt and nude pump add a more dressy flair!
Looks to Kill:
Skirts are great! You're getting to do everything a dress does, yet with a little more edge and trend! Throw on some tights for more style! As you see, your tights can add so much 'umpf' to a look! And peep how shoe choice adds some spice as well!
While Rihanna could have threw on a brown or black knee boot, these nude pointed Loub's add SO much to this regular day outfit! They turned them into a 'night' look! Add a long necklace and a fitted blazer of any earthy tone and you're good to go!
February 13, 2012- My Baby's 17th Birthday!
Okay, so my little cousin who is my HEART celebrated her 17th birthday this past weekend! I got her a BANGING dress made, but I unfortunately got her the wrong size! Luckily, we had went out the weekend prior and she purchased a dress to wear on Valentine's day to school! She thought fast and said "I can wear the dress we just bought" ... and BOOM! Just like that, she had a dress to wear for her party! Although it wasn't fun, and girly, and hot pink- it was sophisticated and flaunted the new curves she's getting!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MO!
February 13, 2012- Mr. Campbell ... Jeffrey that is ;)
While it seems that lately Jeffrey Campbell wedges can be seen on 90% of young ladies feet across America, his brand has been around since his launching in the year 2000 [out of his garage- look at him now!]!! Known for his conceptual recreations of vintage style, colorful patterns and prints, daring heel shapes and sizes ... There's no question why he's on top of the shoe scene right now!
I'm not an overly trendy girl, so I try to stay away from brands that are everywhere, however, I HAVE to give credit where it's due!
Check out these funky, fabulous, 'strut your stuff' shoes!!
