Thanks again to The Every Girl, we have style tips for short hair! Whether you're trying to grow it out to long or you simply enjoy the shorter more manageable length, you now have 5 ways to style your short hair.
The Quick and Simple for short to medium hair involves a one inch iron and a bobby pin. Twist your hair and pin back a portion under the front section of your hair. It's easy and natural for your work day.
For short hair, teasing is even more important because you'll need more volume with less hair. Tease and bump the back portion of your hair then pin two sections behind the bump so it stays up. Hair spray will make the look hold and help avoid fly aways.
Side twists are another fun way to jazz up your flat hair funk. All you need is t part your hair to one side and twist two large, even sections of your hair. You can fix them evenly in the back with bobby pins. This look can only be done with shorter hair because the length will rest neatly behind your head!
The Messy Bun with Volume is a new take on an old classic. Tie your hair up as you normally would but, before OR after, bump a little section of your front bangs up and secure with bobby pins and hair spray. You can tease before for extra volume.
The last style requires only one step and is super simple! The Deep Side Part is one fail swoop of your hair. All you need is a flirty clip to keep your hair trained in a spot that it normally does not fall in. Try one of the above for a fun new look!

March 20th, 2013- The Waterfall Twist
The waterfall twist is a gorgeous hairstyle for Spring. It is flirty and the half up, half down look is perfect for when the weather gets warm. The tiny braid sweeps your hair out of your face but also looks elegant flowing down with your hair. Here is how to create the look that is perfect for any occasion.
First, you'll want to wash, blow dry and straighten your hair. To work the look, you'll want your hair to be straight so you can easily see the detail of the braid. Next, part your hair to the side and grab two small pieces of hair at the front of your side part.
Twist the two pieces of hair you have separated from the rest of your mane so that they are tight. Then, pull the front piece over the back piece and then take a piece from the outside and pull it over the front piece like a normal braid.
Next, hold the middle piece in your mouth as you twist a new top strand to work into the braid. Continue to braid down the side of your head as your work down horiztonally down your scalp. Don't pull too tight because you'll want the look to be loose and free flowing.
Once complete, secure with a small pony tail holder or bobby pins. You can use hairspray for extra help. Finally, pull the strands apart to create a looser look that looks like a Greek goddess. Enjoy your new waterfall style!

All across the country, women are looking for fresh new looks to wear to work, brunch and for everyday use. First, you're going to want to straighten your hair if it is extra curly. This will make it more controlled and easier to work with. Brush all of your hair so it is knot free and if you're going to add extensions for length, now is the time. Then, pull all your hair to one side and section off a top portion of your hair with a pony tail holder.
Next it is time to start looping. Take a the section from above the top of your hair to around halfway round your head that you secured. Next, you need to split the section of hair above the top of the hair band in two, and bring all of your hair through the middle of the two sections. This is a loop. Now, you're going to take another section below the section you just created. Add this section to the bottom of the ponytail and secure is in place with a hair band. Create a second loop through this new pony tail by pulling your hair through the middle of the parted section.
Continue looping until you're satisfied with the way it looks! Completing loops until about halfway down you pony is a cute look. Adding some girly curls at the end with a curling wand makes for a feminine touch. Try this idea out courtesy of Long Hairstyles How To.

February 11th, 2013- Hair Ribbon
Are you looking for a hair trend that easily translates from winter to spring? Look no further! Hair ribbons are back and cuter than ever. Recently seen on runway shows and celebrities, this subtly preppy hair trend is rocking the nation with its cuteness.
The most popular way to wear this trend is in a half up, half down hair style. A pretty pony in the back of your head is adorable for daytime wear. Regardless of hair texture or color, this trend is super adorable. You can use a tiny elastic to not over shadow the bow and the half up look makes your face look slimmer and takes down some of your volume of a down hair look.
You can also rock a bow in an all up do. Models on the runway usually wear this look in a loose pony with some fly away strands. You can tie a bow on a simple pony to make your look peppy and sweet. You can also weave a bow into a bun or cute side swept undo to add some femininity.
This look is also darling with curls. Either natural or curling iron made, wavy locks are perfect with a bow addition. You can twist back your two strands or just simply pull back on some volume to create a half updo look. This teacher chic look is perfect for work or a lunch date.
This look is also perfect with a bradded accent or a messy volume. You can braid the two strands or simple weave in smaller braids in the bottom. The color of the bow shouldn't matter! You can have a floral piece to accent the springtime look or a simple black to match any ensemble.
Regardless of color or texture, this style works for you. Straight, curly, blonde or brunette, you will look classy and girly with this new hair trend!
January 30th, 2013- Faux Bob Hair Tutorial
Every girl, at some point, has dreamed of being bod and chopping off all her hair. Fantasies of cutting but never making the chop. Why? The commitment is just too large! It takes months, sometimes years for hair to grow back to its full luscious lengths. So, want the look without the commitment? What girl wouldn't?
First, part your hair to the left and sweep all your hair to the opposite, right, side of your head. You don't want to pull it too tightly because you want to give the appearance of naturally fallen hair. Then, braid your section of the hair while keeping it on the right side of your head. Leave one piece of your layers down in front.
Next, tuck your braid behind your ear and secure it with elastics and bobby pins. Feel free to use some hairspray for holding support and flyways.
Finally, you're finished! Straighten the front of your layers or curl under the side section of your hair. If your hair is super long, you can sweep the front section down in front of your ear and secure it with clips to the back of the braid. Before you commit to the cut, see how it looks!
January 20th, 2013- The Perfect Shape
Every woman has a unique face shape that makes her beautiful. Common head shapes are heart, oblong, diamond, circle, square, rectangle, oval and triangle. This trend also applies to celebrities! You can help tell your face shape by studying yourself in the mirror or comparing yourself to an alike looking celeb! The long, lean shape is either an oblong or oval shape. The pointier chins result in a triangle or diamond shape and the chiseled jaw line has a square or rectangle shape. The more knowledge you have about your face, the better informed you can be on hairstyles that flatter your shape!
Square
Square faces can seem severe when your hair is pulled tight behind your ears. Side bangs or full fledged across the forehead bangs look beautiful on this face shape. Waves, a centered part or a soft, feathering look is best for you and celebrities like Katie Holmes and Demi Moore.
Oval
Oval faces look best with updos and fancy side swept look. Cindy Crawford and Eva Longoria always look dashing because this face shape looks flattering with almost any hairstyle! Even severe parts are chic on these oval faces.
Round
Round faces like Drew Barrymore's are best with pieces haircuts. You want to lengthen and slim your face so wispy fringe looks sexy either short or long. Tossled locks or deep flowing curls bring out the best in round head shapes.
Oblong
Oblong faces are sleek and slender for any woman. This slim face shape looks good with short hair. You want to add volume to your face and curls or waves do this flawlessly. Avoid a straight down, lengthy look and perhaps add some bangs
Heart
The heart shaped face is most famously recognized in Reese Witherspoon. This classic look is sweet and innocent in a variety of hair styles. You need a style that adds volume to the bottom of your face to even out the mass. Deep side parts, loose layering and thick braids are chic for these sweetheart gals.
Rectangle
The rectangle look is a lot like the square shape but stretched. Sandra Bullock looks chic in a layered hair look with soft, romantic waves. Just like the square shape, rectangle women look stunning with bangs and must avoid above the jawline cuts because they accentuate the squareness of the face.
Pear
Pear shaped faces are a rare find. This few and far between shape is stunning with deep parts and over the top updos. If you have the guts to go short, this is the look for you. Bringing volume to the top of your head is a must do for a pear woman.
Here are some final tips for all shapes! Style accordingly ladies!

January 2nd, 2013- Most Anticipated Hair of the New Year
Harper's Bazaar has done it again. The newly released list of 2013 hair is out and making a statement for ladies this year. The 7 styles that have made the cut are revolutionary spins on traditional styles: the Knot, Soft Rocker Waves, Messy Updos, Bold Hair Accessories, Different Braids, Low Ponies and Slicked hair.
"Tying the Knot"
Flyaways can be a real buzzkill. You get this gorgeous blowout but then you have a crown of tiny hairs that aren’t quite heavy enough to stay where you want them. Sometimes those hairs can be caused from breakage and sometimes they’re simply new sprouts. Either way The Beauty Department has a professional trick that will help hide that halo.
Make sure you have the nozzle on your blowdryer.
Pick up a “slice” of hair on one side of your part and put it flat in between your fingers.
With your fingers parallel to your part, pull the slice of hair upward.
Now blow those short hairs THROUGH the long hairs that you’re holding. (See image above)
Once the short hairs are pushed through the long hair, the longer heavier hairs will then lay on top of the shorter hairs and weigh them down. If they sneak back through later in the day, they won’t stick straight up.
Once you’ve tucked the short hairs under, repeat on the other side and the back if neccessary.
Add a thin veil of hairspray. Enjoy being fly away free!

May 9th, 2013- Boosting Fine Hair
Thanks to the Stylist website, you can easily turn your fine hair into fabulous! Giving your hair a boost is simple in 5 easy steps. When you have fine hair, there's nothing fine about it. It's limp, lifeless and lacking serious volume-even after an hour of backcombing. To understand why your hair is constantly battling your body-boosting efforts and continuously falling flat, you need to understand its structure.
Fine hair, by definition, means the diameter of each hair strand is smaller. Despite it's strength, fine hair is simple to manage. You should cut your hair to one length as opposed to layering. Also using a volumizing shampoo is also critical. A lightweight conditioner is also essential to help keep the hair weightless rather than weighted down. The fragile structure of fine hair makes it more prone to breakage. Trimming it every four to six weeks will keep split ends to a minimum, while a weekly deep conditioning treatment will help to nourish and strengthen.
Follow the tips below for Fine Hair How To:
A favorite hairstyle in the summer is messy, braided hair. It's the easiest "quick fix" to create a manageable, beachy look. Celebrities, even with super fine, thin hair have been able to create the look without extensions. What is there secret? Product, product, product. Thanks to this blog, we have unlocked their secrets.
All you need to do to create a fuller, more textured braid is:
-spray hair with hair spray and/or beach spray to make it more piecy/less slippery. Dry shampoo also works perfectly for this.
-separate hair into the three pieces to create your braid.
-before braiding, braid the center piece into its own braid. Then braid all three stands together.
All three steps creates the illusion of a much thicker braid! You can also pull out strands around your face and loosen the braid for a messier look. Bobby pins can also help secure your look where needed and of course you can always spray again with hair spray to hold longer. Enjoy your summer braid with these thickening tricks!

April 17th, 2013- 5 Tips to Style Long Hair
Ever wake up and don't know what to do with your long flowing locks? Everyone love their long hair.. when they have time to do it. Now, thanks to The Every Girl, we have 5 fabulous hairstyles that are easy to accomplish before work in the morning.
The Quick and Simple is exactly as its name states: quick and simple. Part your hair in the middle, and pinback two one inch sections on both sides of your head. It will keep your hair out of your face and look more pleasant than the boring hair down look.
The One Side Twist Back takes about 5 minutes. All you need is a side part and some bobby pins for this style and you'll look fun and flirty all day long.
The Half Up is a popular look for almost any hair length or style. All you need is bobby pins of small elastics depending on the thickness of your hair. You can add a little volume for a more professional appearance.
The Two Side Braids is a fun, summery look for warmer weather. Part your hair to the side and complete two small braids in the front of your crown. You can sweep to one side or two! Whatever you desire.
Lastly, you can do Blake Lively's favorite style by doing the Messy Side Braid. This look only works with length because you'll need a longer pony to twist. Pull and twist a front section of your hair and braid back. Leave the braid to the front for a more feminine look.

April 2nd, 2013- Curling Barrel Sizes
Have you ever wondered why there are so many sizes of curling iron? What are they for? Do some people have fatter hair that needs a bigger barrel? Now we have the answers! There are around 7 sizes of curling iron that crate different sized curls. Not only do they create differing curls, some irons are meant for different hair types. Thanks to the Beauty Department, we have a breakdown of all 7 irons.
The 3/8" is the smallest iron available. This tiny iron is great for the tightest curls. It creates an almost mini afro. This item is mostly used for kinking and upkeep. You can loosen pieces up or do some slight taming or curl adjusting for your natural curls.
The 5/8" barrel is the next size up. This is popular among the looks beloning to Carrie Bradshaw and Beyonce. This will not give you ringlets but will make your wild and crazy curls bound left and right. This piece is best to control your natural wave.
The 3/4" iron is the best tool for vintage curls. Most updo creations are made with a 3/4" iron. You can use this iron without the clamp to create bouncing youthful curls. Once curling your entire head of hair, you can brush them out for a soft wafting look.
The 1 inch curling iron creates Veronica Lake waves for long and medium length hair. You can also use this tool without the clamp for wavier curls. It's a hot trend now to only curl the ends or middle of your hair. Flat on top and bounding bottoms are chic.
This iron is a slightly bigger version of the 1 inch. This is the most popularly sold iron available and is the standard size. This creates soft beach waves and ringlets if used properly. This was and forever will be the first replacement to traditional curlers.
The inch and a half barrel is only appropriate for the soft waves. It never creates a tight and curly look. This look is commonly referred to as bead head. The loose and sexy "I just rolled out of bed flawless" is sexy for the hipster movement.
Last but not least is the mother of all curling irons: the 2 inch barrel. This tool is exclusively used for the ends of hair. The rounded tips make you look as if you just had a professional blow out at the salon. Select your favorite iron from the images and explanations above!

March 6th, 2013- Loop Pony Tail
All across the country, women are looking for fresh new looks to wear to work, brunch and for everyday use. Our job is to find fresh new ways to wear your hair that are easy to accomplish on your own at home. This loop side pony is perfect for the transition to spring. You can wear it in warm and cold weather. The pony transitions great from work to play as well so you can wear it all day long!

Simple and striking are two ways to describe the tightly wound knots seen on the runway. Not only is it a very classic American style but it is also super wearable. To master your twist, blow-dry hair straight, create a clean center part if wanted, and secure hair into a firm ponytail at the nape, spritzing with shine mist. From there, you can wrap the tail into any number of looks—a loop with the ends pointing up or tucked under, a round ballet bun, or the classic double knot—sealed with a shot of anti-frizz spray.
"Topping It Off"
Hair accessories have been dominating runway shows from designers like Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen. This time around, there were sporty neon bands slipped on the head (Fendi), brass sculpted branches worn like a crown (Balenciaga), oversized fabric flowers tucked into ponytails (Rochas), pretty pearls draped down the nape (Chanel) and impossibly chic beekeeper-inspired headpieces (Alexander McQueen). Not feeling quite that bold? Look to the gorgeous printed scarves tied around the head (Dolce & Gabbana, Marc by Marc), which give your off-duty look a chic spin.
"Making the Braid"
There's something endlessly appealing about a braid, especially when it was shown so many ways this season. Things got super intricate at Marchesa and Hervé Léger, where plaits crisscrossed the head or formed an equestrian harness across the back. The look was refreshingly simple with a single, slightly messy weave tied with an elastic or more complex as hair can be twisted back in two sections, mimicking a braided-like effect.
"Undone Updos"
At shows like Donna Karan, Vera Wang, Chloé and more, it looked as if the models might have left the hair stations a bit too early with strands only semi-fastened in place. Turns out, the effect was entirely intentional. So whether you're pinning your hair up into a twist, pulling it into a bun, or wrapping into a ponytail, there's something to be said for not making things too tidy. A little casual coolness goes a long way this season.
"Rock and Roll Waves"
Hairstylists took inspiration from nineties grunge backstage, giving hair a tousled effect that suggested the hair wasn't really "done" at all, but left loose and flowing with a natural bend. In reality, creating the look does require some effort. You must apply volumizing foam to damp hair and rough-dried with your fingers then scrunch up the ends before twisting strands into a bun and misting with aerosol hair powder for texture. After hair sets release the bun and spray with more powder for a "cool-girl" look that was sexy and "uncomplicated."
"The New Low Pony"
The modern ponytail was defined by two factors: it was positioned low, hovering just at or below the nape, and ironed straight, which beautifully emphasized the length of the tail. At Michael Kors and Elie Saab, a wide hair band held strands in place providing an elegant touch. Some locks were subtly tucked behind the ears for a girly effect. The low pony can be loose or tight depending on how you want to wear the trend.
"So Slick"
This last look is rather hit or miss. Although some critics think that this look is sloppy and ill-tempted, high end shows love this look for runways performances. At Carolina Herrera, Loewe and Rodarte, hair was slicked down into graphic center and side parts around the crown. Glossy "goddess" waves are seen as chic and trendy and looks shower chic. Not so sold on this look? Visit Harper's Bazaar for more 2013 trends!

November 7th, 2012- Long Hair, Do Care
It is pretty much un-debateable that long hair is gorgeous. Flowing locks are a sign of femininity and sensuality. In countless male poles in magazines like Esquire, Cosmopolitan, and Maxim, guys voted their preference for longer hair because they prefer something to grab onto. Long hair is perfect for the colder seasons because the lack of humidity doesn't create needless volume and unwanted fly aways. Furthermore, these long locks keep your head and shoulders warm during the Fall and Winter months.
Celebrities like Meghan Fox, Kate Hudson and Carrie Underwood love their flowing locks. In Hollywood and in civilian life, long hair gives you more options! Length is versatile. You can wear your hair in a detailed up do, long fun pony or down and natural. The possibilities for curls, waves or stick straight hair are endless.
Long hair can be worn with a variety of styles. You depending on the color, texture, and thickness of your hair, you should take certain precautions to take care of your lengthy hair. Stick straight hair can get oily or greasy. There are products to combat this problem and help volumize super flat long hair. You also need to be aware of dead or split ends when venturing into your long hair journey. Make sure you get frequent hair trims to keep the style looking healthy.
Length can be sexy or sweet depending on your style and hairdo. Surveys show that curly, volumous hair is viewed as more sexy. The flip side to these findings is that it is also seen as less professional. Straight or pinned up hair is more office appropriate for the woman in the workforce. Free flowing curls also make a statement that you are fun-loving and free spirited. You can wear natural waves in a more innocent fashion. Pulling your hair half up is a dainty look that is sweet for day time or night time apparel. Length also looks best with your natural ends. When you go for a trim, make sure to not cut straight across, go for layers or angles at your ends.
For those of you who want beach blonde or lighter long hair, be vigilant about the cut and color maintenance. It is harder to hide split ends, a poor cut or even bad roots with a lighter style. If you over use bleach in your hair, the length will look unhealthy and, in extreme cases, dead. The long locks are easy to take care of during the winter time and look stunning under hats, helmets and snow sport attire. It's recommended that you don't color your hair for optimum hair and scalp health.
The number one piece of advice for healthy, long hair is to avoid dyes and heat products like straighteners, curlers and other irons. This is great news for the ombre hair trend! It's super trendy right now to let your natural hues show! Fading from dark to light is what most hair does naturally as the bottom has been exposed to more sunlight and even begin to lose color as they die towards ends. In order to straighten hair without heat, just mix a cup of water with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, pour it into a spray bottle, then spray into damp hair and let air dry! There is no need for harsh dyes or tough heat to ruin your locks!
The best way to wear your long hair is with the style that it naturally grows or lays. Long curls are perfect for Fall and take little to no effort. Harsh curling or straightening irons can burn and damage your hair. Often times, they cause split ends and damaged fly aways. There are plenty of products by John Frida or even home remedies to get your hair looking healthy and sleek. For example, putting coconut milk in your hair for an hour makes your hair grow faster and thicker. It has also been proven that coconut, olive, or almond oil helps to keep it smooth and healthy looking!

The first costume hair that is adorable for tomorrow is 50's chic! You can be a pin up girl with retro chic hair. You need a vintage look to pull off this outfit. A high and teased pony is great for this look. You may want to invest in some rollers to achieve a vintage curl.
If you really want to go all out for the occasion you can give yourself a vintage cut. Pin up styles were traditionally for soldiers during WWI and WWII. The hair was voluptuous and sultry for the photos. Short curled bangs are the staple for this style. You can buy a wig if you're not ready to commit to the cut.
If you want to aim for more fictional, you can be a fairy! You can either be a generic fairy or the most infamous bell of all time: Tinkerbell. To be this fairy you'll need wings, a green dress, and magic makeup. Fake lashes and green shadow is perfect for your fairy makeup.
The bun is the staple hairstyle for the fairy look. You'll need a bunch of hairspray and ponytail elastics. You can put your hair in a neat sock bun and leave some wispy sections out to frame your face. If you're feeling really creative, leave a section of your hair out to braid and twist around the bun!
If you're looking for a more romantic style, you can be the very sexy Veronica Lake, Jessica Rabbit or Ariel. Red or auburn hair color is the ideal shade for this ensemble. However, if you style your hair correctly, the dye is not necessary. For these ensembles, long waves are the trend.
Length is a must have for the look. Long flowing hair can be achieved naturally, with extensions or by donning a wig. Either way, you can use a curling iron to achieve the look. Let your hair dry naturally, put the iron on a low heat and only curl the front sections of your hair. Relax the strands out and only apply frizz free products to relax your curls.
The 1950's look is in full force thanks to shows like Mad Men. A French Maid, secretary or 50's film star are all adorable costumes for tomorrow with little to no hassle. An up-do or tuck under is the hairstyle for these costumes.
You can braid and tuck your hair into a classy up-do style. You can add a vintage hair piece to make your outfit feminine and sexy. Volume is the trick to mid 20th century hairstyles. If you have short hair, you can place your hair in a voluptuous pony. Simple and clean is the trend for maids, secretaries and vintage goddesses.
Being a genie or belly dancer is sexy and simple. You can achieve the look with a simple pony style! Traditionally, belly dancers wear their hair for comfort and ease. They want their hair to be out of the way while they're dancing, so this style is the simplest of all.
You can style a traditional high pony or give it a little flare with a poofed up front top. You'll need extra hold gel and some strong elastics for the look to stay up all Halloween long. Let your hair hang naturally or straighten it to attain a cleaner looking pony.
Last but not least, the classy up-do is perfect for princesses, goddesses, witches and brides. The look is so versatile it can be almost anything girly! Braids, swirls and curls all look darling for these costumes. Add the necessary accessories and you can be costume ready in a pinch!
The only catch with these hairstyles is that they can be difficult to create. You may want to have an expert pair of hands working your up-dos. You can do your own by french braiding tow strands of hair and tucking with bobby pins and hair spray. Other more complex styles require curling irons and teasing. have a friend or family member attempt the looks above, add a tiara and you'll be Halloween ready in no time!
October 28th, 2012- DIY Curls
Long luxurious curls are a great signature look for any occasion. The longer the curls the better the look! Voluptuous bounds of ringlets are perfect for day or night. This look can be formal or made super casual with a pit of jeans and a T shirt. It works with almost any hair type and definitely every color!
Reds, brunettes and blondes can rock this look to perfection. The swirls bring out the different hues in your natural tones. You can mix your curls up with different styles. You can wear them half up and half down, in a high pony or mixed in with braids.
Celebrities love their lengthy curls. Lauren Conrad, Beyonce and Rihanna love their controlled swirly hair. You can wear them in a formal setting and only curl the ends or fun and flirty as a bob or crop. You can even style your curls more casually! Let your curls run wild, but be sure you keep them tame and fly away free.
These curls can be achieved in two ways: curlers or curling iron. Rollers are inexpensive but time intensive. They can be purchased for under $20 at Target. Heat is the key component to any curl look. With rollers, you need to make sure your hair is completely dry. Start with a small section of hair, place the curler at the bottom and roll up away from your face. Secure each curl with a bobby pin or roller hook and leave in for over 20 minutes. The roller option will give your hair more volume and needs to be accompanied by smoothing products.
Curling irons are the other option for big beautiful curls. Irons can range from as low as $20 and as high as $100. Sally Beauty Supply is a great store that offers a huge number of iron options. It's best to spend more on curling irons because their heat control options won't ruin or damage your hair. Furthermore, the smooth design won't snag your hair and break your length in pieces.
To use a curling iron properly, you should section your hair into various pieces. Make sure your hair is dry. You can use a hair dryer or let it dry naturally. Wrap a section of your hair around the shaft of the iron at the bottom and then twist away from your face as you roll the iron up towards your scalp. Hold the section in the iron for 10-15 seconds and then slowly release the clip.
Follow this Beauty Department "How To" for voluptuous curls. You can use a combination of rollers and an iron to achieve the look above. Tease your do out for extra volume and be sure to use hair spray or smoothing product to reduce frizz. You can also shop their curl options on their Bounce with Me post. Happy curling!
October 17th- The High Pony
Ladies, good news: the high pony is back. That's right, the easiest undo in fashion is making its comeback. Stars like Jen Aniston, Hilary Duff, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Alba are all loving the high pony tail on and off the red carpet. The pony is easy to achieve with firm elastics and styling techniques. The high pony can be sleek and controlled or messy. The teased, full volume retro pony fits perfectly into this style and is amazing for formal events.
This style works for medium and long hair lengths. You can easily apply extensions to get the look as most celebrities do. Many even use fake hair to wrap their pony instead of using an exposed elastic. Long hair works best with this style and can be worn wavy, straight or curly. The longer the hair, the longer your tail will look even in curls. Medium length hair can look just as cute but looks shorter up. This look will make you appear as though you have above shoulder length locks when it could be far longer.
The high ponytail can be worn either messy or sleek. The messy styles above are darling. The beach blown look is super cute for any occasion. If you want to play down a fancy dress or simply show off the back and shoulders of an ensemble, this look is best. The messy pony can also be great for just a casual day around town. It gives off the impression that you are down to earth and approachable. With the messier styles, you want to make sure your makeup and outfit are both flawless. You don't want to risk appearing frumpy.
The sleek pony is another celebrity favorite. This look is commonly worn by Katy Perry and other starlets to awards ceremonies and red carpet events. Most popular to this hairdo is the hair wrap scrunchie holder. The tail is difficult to keep up the entire wear long so the hair wrap supports the undo while avoiding a thick, bare ponytail holder. In order to achieve the look you need a heavy band to withstand gravity, hair gel and maximum hold hairspray to restrain fly aways. Bobby pins are also a great tool to use when attempting the sleek look.
The happy compromise between sleek and messy is the vintage high pony.Volume for this look is key. The front and top must be flawlessly teased and smooth as in the sleek look, but the remaining tail can be free flowing and messy. Some mess in the front can also be acceptable in some poofs. To achieve the style, you must first separate and tease volume into your front section of hair. You can also tease the pony itself to add more volume. Twist the ends to avoid harsh lines. This look is soft and versatile

All hair textures vary but that doesn't mean the care is all too different. Home remedies work on all types of hair! African American hair is typically tough to work with and required a lot of heat and salon time. However, this home remedy is the perfect leave in mask for healthy hair! Mix a tsp of apple cider vinegar and a teaspoon of glycerin and mix the ingredients until smooth. Then mix in a beaten egg. Add 2 Tablespoons of caster oil and mix thoroughly. Apply the mask on the entire length of the hair. Place the plastic cap and wrap your head with a towel and leave the mask on your hair for 2 hours. After wash your hair using shampoo. Repeat the mask application 2 times a week for one month. After 1 month, you can make masks for damage prevention and apply once every 2 weeks. Try it today! For more on hair care for women of color check out this long hair care forum specifically for African American hair!
Want more home remedies and tips about haircare? No problem! Here is another fun trick to try at home: Egg yolks won’t only make your hair softer, shinier and healthier but help you to grow it long as well. And, in order to get all the benefits egg yolks provide, simply mix 2 egg yolks with 2 tbsp of olive oil, dilute the mixture by adding a cup of water and then slowly and thoroughly massage this mask into your scalp. Give your hair and scalp 15 to 20 minutes to absorb all the needed nutrients and then rinse off. You can get the sleek look above and transform frizzy hair into a beautiful lengthy look. October 30th, 2012- Halloween Hair
Halloween is tomorrow! We have some hot hair tips to make you look stunning on the scariest holiday ever. No matter what your costume is, you can style your hair to look the part. A hairstyle can be 90% of a costume! Styled hair can make you look like a terrifying zombie or a perfect princess.

October 9th- Oh My, Pink!
As we all are well aware, this month is Breast Cancer Awareness themed. How are women wearing their pink in a fresh new way? Well, in their hair of course! Pink hair is a bold and daring way to show your support this month! The trend has been seen not only in October, but in high fashion magazines and on runways season wide. Designers dye their models pink to give their collection an edgier look and publications like Vogue and Elle have models sporting their looks for advertisements and full spreads.
Celebrities have been sporting this trend for years now! The musical artists Pink, Katy Perry and Lily Allen were among the first to turn their hair a pink hue and most currently, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Willow Smith are keeping the trend alive and well with their modern cuts and wigs. The color works in a wide array of vibrancy and cuts!
Many celebrities are very daring and wear their pink to the utmost intensity. Deep, neon pinks are the boldest way to wear the trend as inspired by the previously shown singers above. To get this vibrant pink, you must first bleach your hair and then dye over the white blonde. Using the pink Manic Panic product and bleach will get you the desired look.
If you're not feeling particularly bold with you pink, you can still participate in the trend! Lighter hues of pink are just as darling as the rocker neon. To achieve the look like Rachael McAdams, Gwen Stefani or Mary Kate Olsen, you don't need to bleach your full head of hair. You also don't need to leave the dye in for as long as directed. Dying pink over darker hair gives a deeper, more subtle shade of pink. Furthermore, you can leave the pink in for half the directed time to get a washed out tone. If it's too bold right away, don't worry! Most pinks fade to this color over time with wash and wear.
Long hair is ideal for this style because there is so much to do with it! For long hair, you will look like a Disney Princess for a day! Think of Ariel mixed with Rapunzel. You can let your roots grow in a little to achieve the beach-blown retro styles featured above. Shading and fading is also a fun possibility with this trend. Lighter pinks on top with dark tips or underside can be a fun way to highlight your facial structure. For a rocker style, feel free to dye sections of your hair pink while leaving your natural color in panels.
Feeling a little overwhelmed with the permanence? Can't decide if you want to take the pink plunge? No worries! Pink tips are a great alternative to going full head pink! Stars like Demi Lovato and Lauren Conrad love this trend. Bleach the ends of your hair and then dye over it with any pink you want! If you're in need of a haircut anyway, this would be a fun style to try for October! When you're sick of it, just simply snip and trim the dead ends! It works on all hair lengths and styles. Enjoy your new flirty pink hair all October!
October 1st, 2012- Twist Out & Shout!
Twist outs have been popping up everywhere! This controlled yet wild look is chic for Fall fashion and cuter than ever. You must start with two strand twists in your hair then unravel them once the twist has stuck! Twist-outs are a wonderful natural hairstyle. You get a lot of versatility, depending on the size of twists you make as well as how long you leave them in before unraveling.
The look is absolute style perfection when worn long and flowing. Thin twist outs give a Macy Gray, retro feel to your look. If you comb out and use an array of the right products, this freeing look can be controlled if done correctly. The big hair makes your frame look petite and feminine; the bigger the better!
The chunky twist out is a more formal hairstyle that's great with any dress style! The fuller curls are reminiscent of ringlets used most commonly for galas and formal events. Follow these tips to achieve chunky perfection. The fashion is easy to attain if you leave your twists in for a long period of time and are extremely careful and use anti-friz techniques to keep the look intact.
Whatever your twist out desires, chunky or loose, short hair is darling. The short twist out look is spunky, fun and loved in high fashion! The short look accentuates your shoulders and looks perfect with a strapless dress or top.
Want to get the look with a sporty edge? Putting your twist out into a high pony tail or tie it back with a headband and hair tie for a flirty look. The pony is funky and sexy all in one. Follow this How To for twist out perfection and look for products and techniques to use to achieve the look.

August 8th, 2012- Embrace the Mess
This summer, feel free to get.......... messy! The trend this season is letting loose. Messy
buns, up-dos and free n’ natural are all the rage. People are putting away
their gels, mousses and wax for a more relaxed look.
This style is easily
accomplished by simply hopping out of the shower, letting your hair dry and
throw it into a bun. Even if
your hair is instantly braided, after a few hours you can let the braids out
for a natural curl or wave.
For more coarse hair textures, achieving the messy look is a bit more complicated, yet still achievable! Also, throwing hair up into a ponytail with less grip will create messy pin up styles!
Furthermore, women are adding in earthy accessories
into their hair for a flirty appearance. Shells, flowers and stone accents are
being woven into these messy locks for a fashion statement. So go crazy and
pick up come natural hair gems on your walks this summer to achieve the look or

July 12, 2012- Let's Talk Hair!! [cont'd from main page]
The runner up for Best Shampoo/ Conditioner for naturally curly hair was Daines Love Lovely Curl Enhancing Shampoo and Conditioner.
I'm more of a Carol's Daughter fanatic myself! My mother has been natural for quite some years now, and I've always watched which hair crae products she uses, while her hair is naturally a fine curl, this totally bypassed me, and my hair is more of a thick kinky curl! A very weird combination but I have the perfect combination of both my parents. Carol's Daughter products work FANTASTIC on my hair! In between my hair weaves, I have to give myself deep treatments because my hair underneath is cornrowed.
My FAV is the Black Vanilla Hair Smoothie Duo! It leaves my hair feeling beyond healthy and ultimately moisturized! I don't have to apply extra oil to my scalp until about 2 full weeks later!
I also ADORE the Monoi Repairing Hair Mask! It does just what the title suggests! Repairs! I'll be the first to admit that my hair isn't the healthiest on the planet, so I've tried just about every hair treatment there is to try for hair restructuring! When used with the Monoi Repairing Shampoo- this combination is a gift from the heavens!
One of the favorites from Carol's Daughter is the infamous "Hair Milk," it defines natural curls, detangles, and smells GREAT!
April 24, 2012- Who doesn't want naturally healthy hair?!
Search NO more guys and gals! I've found the not so secret to beautiful, natural, full hair! Biotene 24! I've been raving about this for a couple of months now because I love it that much! My boyfriend told me about this surprisingly [he will probably kill me!]! He's been wanting me to grow my hair out for a minute and as he was watching the news one day, they were talking about this vitamin called Biotin that promotes healthy hair growth! I went to GNC and purchased Biotene 24 thinking it was the same thing that he told me about, and I started using it. The results are AMAZING!!!
I later found out that this collection was given to cancer patients who underwent chemotherapy to promote faster hair growth! I would show a before and after picture but the world would never forgive me LOL!! Trust me when I say this worked wonders for me in LITERALLY ONE WEEK! I saw results instantly! I've been using it for about 2 months now and I won't stop! I love it! It lasts so long because you don't have to use a lot! The shampoo only requires a dime size amount and it lathers on its own throughout your scalp! Then the conditioner of course, and last the serum! You use the serum while your hair is still wet! I'm not sure which part helps the hair to grow faster, but this system WORKS!
Try it for yourself and let me know your results!
April 09, 2012- Milky Way, Wet and Wavy Hair Weave
Hair Weave Lovers!!! I found a GREAT inexpensive hair weave for your every day on the go woman! If you like to wash your own hair often, but don't have time to style it, I recommend The Wet and Wavy by Milky Way! I got this weave for my upcoming vacation! I wanted something that I could swim in daily, and after coming out the pool, I wouldn't have to worry with styling! This hair only cost me [get ready!!] $40 for TWO packs of 14inches! One pack was $17.99, and the other was $19.99 bc I added color [of course add sales tax!] I have my reservations for "cheap" hair, but so far, so GREAT! I'm not sure if its durable for 2months+ that I know a lot of women prefer for their weaves, but for vacations, and women who like to wash their hair often, I definitely recommend it! I'll update on how it held up after I'm in the ocean and pool for my vacation too!
Here are some pictures of my hair! This is a full weave [none of my hair is out! Everything is braided under the weave!]
February 23, 2012- [Hair] Color blocking
