2011 Hair Trends

Now that the year is coming to an end, let's reflect on the hottest hair trends of 2011. The french braid has taken on a mind of its own, and is now gracing runways across the nation with many different styles and on all cultures! My mom had me wearing the french braid as soon as I had hair, so to see how it has transpired to what it is now is amazing!

A couple of years ago, LC (Lauren Conrad, star of MTV's "The Hills") started wearing her hair with a french braid across the front. While she may not be the first to do this, this was the first time I'd seen this on other races, and in this style! Before long it took over and even has an editorial side:

  

Next is the big braid! I first noticed this on Beyonce in the "Upgrade U" [or was it "Crazy In Love" I forget!] video!

 The fish braid! Again, a classic braid that is now everywhere!

 

White platinum blonde hair:

These blunt bangs have also been a trend!

Here Kim K has blonde with brown underneath! This was big too!

Lastly, and the biggest has been the Red Head! Julia Roberts can rest assured knowing that she started this trend wayyyyy back, with no intention at all! Being a blonde was the thing to be about 10 years ago, but now, red is IN!

When I first heard Justin Beiber sing it was the "Baby" song! My God son was hopping around his house going crazy! I asked my bestfriend, "who is this kid??" and she said "You never heard of him? Its Justin Beiber, all the kids are going crazy over him!" I said "oh" ... Thinking he would just be a kids artist, but NOOOO!! Beiber has moved on to capture hearts and fans all over the world, and I too am guilty!

Last night, he had the honor of singining at the Rockefeller Center of the lighting of the "Nations Largest Christmas Tree" [which I'm confused, bc I thought that was supposed to be in DC?] He sang "Under The Mistletoe" with Usher! Check it out:

Charlize Theron in "Monster"

When I watched the movie 'Monster,' I had NO clue such a beautiful person hid behind the face they created! Once I discovered what Charlize really looked like, I have been hooked since! I look for her everywhere, and she never disappoints!

Have you seen Charlize Theron lately?! Whewwww!! She is STILL stunning as EVER! She was spotted on the red carpet recently for her new coming role in "Young Adult" and let me tell you, she looked amazingggg, yet its so effortless!! Look at her gracing this Gucci number! Not everyone can rock this! Love it!

Guilty Pleasure! Entertainment News! Grammy Nominations

They're IN! And Mr. West, Mr. Fresh is in the lead with 7 nominations! This is amazing because just last year Eminem held the same honor for hip hop as well! Is a new trend being set?! I wouldn't mind- I appreciate the hip hop community and am very delighted that they are gaining respect and attention!

What's also amazing is my girl Ri Ri is up for ALBUM OF THE YEAR for "Loud"!!! How major is that?! We've all had the chance to witness her journey, from "Pon De Replay" with her skating around that rink, to her now on her grown and VERY sexy! I LOVE it!


What I did find surprising was that Raphael Saadiq is nominated for Best Traditional R&B performance for his song "Good Man" ! I'm not mad at all! Its great that he still knows how to capture his audience and that he's still a force to be reckoned with because this man can SANG! I've only heard this song once, and that was at a performance, it was great! Reminded me of the old school R&B and I'm sure that's exactly what this category honors! Especially since R. Kelly is in the same with "Radio Message."


AND OF COURSE!! I searched and searched, listened and waited to see what my beau Bey was up for!! And what do you know! One of my favorite songs off her latest album "4" ... "Party" feat. Andre 3000!! I LOVE IT!!!

Kourtney Kardashian Preggo Again!

It's true! Kourtney and Scott are expecting baby number 2! She's about nine weeks pregnant and says "You're supposed to wait 12 weeks to tell people, but I feel confident."

There was an episode of the more recent Keeping Up With The Kardashians where her and Scott talked about expanding their family, and they both seemed down for the challenge- and why wouldn't they?! They have both adapted well to the role of being awesome parents! While mommy Kris Jenner was a little upset because they were talking about having another baby instead of marriage- I'm all for it! Kids don't equal marriage- love does! I'm sure they love each other 100% but that's a huge step that shouldn't be taken lightly (as in that other sister's case- but I won't get started on that!) and I'm certain that its coming when they're ready!

She was SO fab pregnant! I know she can't wait to do this all over again!

UGG-der the Christmas Tree

I recently went to a fashion event that one of my close friends hosted and one of my other friends had on the cutest UGG boots I'd ever seen! As soon as I got home, I went to purchase them [I usually don't do this, but that's how cute they were!], and then realized with Christmas around the corner, why wouldn't I just throw them on my Christmas list?! If you're an UGG lover, you too will adore the UGG Bailey Over the Knee Sequin Boots!!

I fell in love with these too! The UGG Sparkle started taking over last Christmas! The variety now is amazing! These are adorable! And you'll be so different because they aren't sold in every local store!

New Fall Trend: Nails!

Ombre Nails have taken over! This once hair trend, can now be found on your favorite celebs everywhere! While I prefer the shaded colors all on one nail, others like the spectrum across their entire hand! What do you think?!

 

Bey Wins Again!

We all hear of her awards for her chart topping songs, BUT hear this! Beyonce won an award for her new fragrance Pulse! Not for the way it smells! But for the packaging! Pulse won the 2011 Holography Award  from the International Hologram Manufacturer's Association (IHMA) "for the exceptional use of a hologram or holographic material for decorative and promotional purposes." If you haven't smelled it, please do!! Its awesome!! [And I'm not speaking from a stan point of view!]
