Open Bracelets
What's hot on the jewelry scene lately? These open enclosure bracelets! These small bangles are darling for any time. Depending on the style, they can be worn to work, out to a fancy dinner party or just when casual shopping. These slip on bracelets are great by their own or look adorable when stacked together!
Dainty gold items are really quaint for this trend. Crosses, keys and skulls are some of the main accents welcomed to the bracelets. The simplest bangles are really the best because they're understated and can also be worn with an array of other bracelet styles.
The most popular item for the open bracelet look is the pointed arrow. You can find a style with studded points to access your rocker side. These edgy pieces look great paired with black or softer items to show your own spunk. Actual arrows are also darling for Hunger Games fans or alongside heart pieces.
If you're more of a softer dresser and have a super feminine style, the looks above are for you. Small gems, floral accents and feathers are all girly items that can spruce up your ensemble. The smaller the bracelet the more of them you can wear!
For those more aggressive, funky fashionistas, there is a open look for you! Big stones, fun designs and tribal inspired bracelets are chic for spring and summer. Paired with a simple ensemble or a long maxi dress, these pieces are sure to stun.
The world of BROWS
Hey Guys and Dolls!!!! We have any classic movie lovers out there??
Yess??!! ... No??!!
Well if you are a classic movie lover, you should be very familiar with the film, "Imitation of Life"
What an amazing film! This is a MAJOR tear jerker as well. If you haven't seen it already, you should DEFINITELY check it out. Be sure to have a TON of tissue around along with some apologies ready to be released to whomever you may need to reconcile with. :-)
Okay! So my mom introduced me to this film years ago and it wasn't until I was a little older that I'd learned that the version with Lana Turner was NOT the origonal version of the film. Yes yes, this was a remake! So like the movie buff I am I immediatley went on a search for the original, and I FOUND it!
It was really really good just like the first one, yet different. I appreciated them both for different reasons. One day I was randomly looking at a double disc movie special of Imitation of Life that I had purchased I noticed something ...
Do you see it?! ... I do!!
THOSE
BROOWWSSSSSS
Look how different they are!
LEFT side 1934; RIGHT side 1959!
This made me very interested in the evolution of eyebrows! Check out what I found!!
1920's
Brows were completely tweezed, then penciled in, to get the thinly arched brows of then "it" girl, Clara Bow (as they called her).
The Roaring 1920′s – Clara
Bow, who was the star of silent movies, had eyebrows that allowed her to express emotions
well on camera.
The eyebrows would often be completely shaved off and
drawn back on with a grease pencil to achieve the thinnest and neatest
brows.
Here are some more brows of the 20's

In honor of Black History Month lets take a moment to celebrate and educate on the beautiful
Josephine Baker:
Josephine Baker:
Josephine Baker (June 3, 1906 – April 12, 1975) was an American-born French dancer, singer, and actress. Born Freda Josephine McDonald in St. Louis, Missouri, she became a citizen of France
in 1937. Fluent in both English and French, Baker became an
international musical and political icon. She was given such nicknames
as the "Bronze Venus", the "Black Pearl", and the "Créole Goddess".
Baker was the first African-American female to star in a major motion picture, Zouzou (1934), to integrate an American concert hall,[3] and to become a world-famous entertainer. She is also noted for her contributions to the Civil Rights Movement in the United States (she was offered the unofficial leadership of the movement by Coretta Scott King in 1968 following Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination, but turned it down),[4] for assisting the French Resistance during World War II,[5] and for receiving the French military honor, the Croix de guerre. I wonder how often they had to tweeze!
1930's
By this time brows were beginning to change- but only a little. They remained thin, but more so no longer a straight line. The 30's introduced a high arch brow more rounded instead. The arch was often times exaggerated and extended past the natural length of a brow.
Lets take a look down the 1930's lane

1940's
"The
1940’s saw eyebrows develop a much softer, feminine look. Like the
previous decade, eyebrows still had a high arch, but were more rounded
and had a more natural thickness.
eyebrows were kept at a more natural thickness with
arches sharper than that of the 30's. "

PAUSE
Ms. Lena Horne
Horne joined the chorus of the Cotton Club at the age of sixteen and became a nightclub performer before moving to Hollywood, where she had small parts in numerous movies, and more substantial parts in the films Cabin in the Sky and Stormy Weather. Due to the Red Scare and her left-leaning political views, Horne found herself blacklisted and unable to get work in Hollywood.[1]
Returning to her roots as a nightclub performer, Horne took part in the March on Washington in August 1963, and continued to work as a performer, both in nightclubs and on television, while releasing well-received record albums. She announced her retirement in March 1980, but the next year starred in a one-woman show, Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music, which ran for more than three hundred performances on Broadway and earned her numerous awards and accolades. She continued recording and performing sporadically into the 1990s, disappearing from the public eye in 2000. (More Info)

Naomi Sims
Naomi Ruth Sims (March 30, 1948 – August 1, 2009) was an African American model, businesswoman and author,[1] who is widely credited as being the first African American supermodel. She became one of the first successful black
models while still in her teens, and achieved worldwide recognition
from the late 1960s into the early 1970s, appearing on the covers of
prestigious fashion and popular magazines. The New York Times wrote that
(her) "appearance as the first black model on the cover of Ladies’ Home Journal in November 1968 was a consummate moment of the Black is Beautiful movement".[1][3] She also appeared on the cover of the October 17, 1969 issue of Life magazine.[1]
This was the first African American model on the cover of the magazine.
The images from the 1967 New York Times fashion magazine cover and the
1969 Life magazine cover were exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in an exhibition entitled The Model as Muse.[1][4](More Info)

1950's
By
the 1950’s the thin eyebrows were long gone, and women were going for a
fuller, more natural looking eyebrow. Audrey Hepburn is the perfect
example of the thicker brow, which was often filled in using pencil to
appear darker.
The 50's brows still had defined arches and a long shape. Below are some more 50's beauties

50 Closet Must Haves
Ladies, listen up. The infographic above is a BIBLE for your closet! If you live in a small apartment or are just getting ready for spring cleaning, you need these tips. Downsize the clutter in your life by selecting the essential pieces to keep in your closet.
Footwear
Every gal needs 6 pairs of shoes: flats, loafers, sneakers, sandals, pumps and boots. You don't need a pair in every color and fashion. A pair of versatile tan flats for work are perfect for day wear. One pair of pumps that can transition from day to night are great for multiple wears. Loafers and sandals are also good for casual days and of course, every girl needs one pair of solid boots for winter.
Baubles
As far is jewelry is concerned, a girl only needs a few items of high value to look classy. Diamond and pearl studs are great for every day wear for work or going out. A signature ring, watch and pearl necklace are all a girl needs to look classy and classic.
Pants
Four pairs are a must have: Jeans, Black pants, Khakis and a pair of comfy sweats are all a gal needs in her life. Jeans for the weekend, khakis or black pants for work and, let's be honest, we need a pair of lounge pants for the weekend.
Accessories
Scarves, bags, hats, tights, bikinis, sunglasses and belts are the must haves. Limit yourself to only a few for each category. One pair of tights, three bikinis where you can mix and match and some statement bags are all a girl needs to look like a rockstar.
Tops
For shirts, you need a mix of various types: casual, evening tops and work blouses. A mix of V-necks, polos, cardigans and plain tank tops are important for your ensemble. If you have a combination of the things above you can mix them together to create brand new outfits.
Skirts & Dresses
Every girl needs a little black dress to wow for any occasion. You also need a cotton fun daytime dress and a casual shirt dress for coffee dates. You also need a cotton mini skirt for evenings out and a classic A-line skirt for a day to night outfit. Pencil skirts are needed for work and perfectly transition to happy hour.
Outerwear
For outerwear, you need practical pieces. A trench coat is important for rainy days and springtime wear. A wool jacket is important for the colder days and a denim jacket is the summer jacket of choice. Finally, a blazer is important for all occasions. Navy, white and black are great staple colors for this. Time to downsize ladies!

Fashion Icon: Blake Lively
Blake Lively has taken the world by storm. The stunning 25 year old actress from Los Angeles, California has the world on a string. Recently married to hunk, Ryan Reynolds, Blake has a rockstar profession and is soon to start a rockstar family. This style icon is a fashion star on and off screen. Recently finishing her stint as fashion symbol Serena Vander Woodson on Gossip Girl, Blake has been starting to pursue her future as a movie star.
There is no doubt that this bombshell has a signature color and style. Red and white are her colors of choice for almost any occasion. White makes Lively look natural, angelic and pure. When wearing this color, she usually lets her hair flow naturally or pulls it into a braid. This ethereal look is perfect for this beach babe. Blake also loves red. This statement color is perfect when she feels bold and wants to wear a red lip.
What's another item Blake can't live without? The plunge neckline! She knows where her natural assets are and she has a stunning figure for this cut. Showing her slim waist and chest is her go to for any event.
One thing is for certain, Blake does formal right. She looks flawless at any occasion. Lively knows which cuts flatter her figure the most and plays that up. She often wears short tailoring to show off her toned legs. Since she is tall, she always watches for an appropriate shoe and length. She loves her accessories like chandelier earrings and bangle bracelets regardless of event.
Even on the beach, Blake Lively looks stunning. White bikinis, one pieces and even causal outerwear look amazing on her. She stays with her staple color and always keeps her hair long, blonde and perfectly colored to the root.
Blake Lively even does casual right. A fun cotton dress is great for a afternoon coffee. The tighter short dress can transition to night time with a blazer and up-do. A long maxi dress is darling for a fun spring or summer day. Blake loves to wear her hair down and relax in flip flops on a day off. Blake also looks stunning in shorts, however, she never wears frayed or cut up styles. Clean and tailored is the look for this gal.
You can't forget about her hair styles! Long and sleek blonde hair can do so much! For a glamorous look, Blake likes to pump up the volume. Elegant curls are great for a sleeveless look. Blake also loves her fishtail braids. She uses extensions if the length isn't to her liking. Finally, sleek and pulled back looks effortlessly perfect on Lively. Up or in a tight ponytail, this celebrity looks flawless.
Whether she is in a magazine spread, on a red carpet or out for an afternoon stroll, this style icon is sheer perfection.
