Ladies, let’s discuss something very important to us on a
weekly, if not daily, basis: switching outfits from day to night. From office ready
to happy hour is a challenge. How can you turn professional into casual with no
turn around time? For the girl on the go this is an art of finesse.
There are a few simple rules from going from day to night.
One: Thou shall pack a bag. You may need to pack night
make-up, a change of shoes or even accessories for your night. Your bag could
also store that cardigan or jacket that was making your outfit more appropriate.
Two: If you’re not ready to commit to the packing, have an
outfit that you can wear all day. Switch pumps for comfortable wedges and be
ready to wear your blazer on your arm.
Three: You may have to switch shoes. Office shoes may be
more causal than the pumps you were planning, and no one wants to wear heels
all day
Four: Take advantage of casual Friday with jeans. Jeans are
so simple to dress down or up for the time change switch.
Five: Have your hair like you want it for both settings.
Having your hair down is appropriate for an office but if you’re doing an up-do
make sure it can be bar scene ready.
Six: Pay attention to your jewelry. More fun jewelry is easy
to pack and makes any outfit more casual and fun.
Seven: Make sure it’s versatile but always err on the side
of professionalism. It’s more embarrassing to look classless at your work than
too classy at a party or bar.
Eight: A pencil skirt and simple dress are staples. Find
colors and fits that compliment your body and can be dressed up or down. It’s also
smart to invest in a casual blazer and statement watch as well.
Nine: Arm yourself with funky blouses that can be dressy
with a blazer and cute on their own. Stray away from cleavage and look for
loosely flowing solids.
Ten: Layering and undershirts are your friends. You can
easily wear a cute tank under your polo for work only to shed down for the bar.
BEWARE: never go to tight or too short. As stated in the ten
simple rules, your job and reputation at work is more important than getting compliments
from your friends. But this style challenge can be creative and fun!
Give it a
whirl and try switching your fashion accessories and makeup first! It’s simple
to add a smoky eye for night-time and some chandelier earrings to your outfit.
The best part is, you get double bang for your buck! Two
outfits for the price of one is a bargain no girl can refuse!
