Maxi Skirt, Maxi Style

What's the simplest way to turn Summer fashion into Fall fashion? Elongate! Maxi skirts are perfect for the weather and style transitions in our lives! Patterns, fall colors and long fabric is fabulously maximized in this trend! Long skirts can be paired with crop tops, tight tanks or even bandeaus for those hotter days and a regular T and bangles for a cool night.

This style is flirty and fun! The key is to never let your trail drag on the ground; skirts can get torn, tattered and dirty if your train is longer than your shoes. Worst of all, you could face plant over your plethora of fabric! Be sure to wear appropriate shoes or hem to your height.

The full ensemble is best paired with wedges for day comfort and height. Playful browns and blacks are subtle enough to compliment your skirt color yet chic enough to go day-to-night. You never want your shoes or top to over shadow your maxi skirt, as it will be the center piece of your outfit.

Inspired by celebs like Kim Kardashian, the trend is best worn with a tight, solid colored top. The top can be strapless, spaghetti strapped or a wife-beater style. Halter tops look too formal with the flowing fabric to try to keep it casual. Button downs are perfect for the look during Fall!

Pastels and other muted colors are stunning for the colder months. A peach elongates your legs and a black or grey is always slimming. Trying skin tones is a fun and flirty idea for day time! A longer slit, a trend started by Angelina Jolie at the Oscars, is seductive for any time as a peek-a-boo look.

Not ready to let go of summer? You don't have to! Stay warm and cozy with this trend in summer colors! Take neons and bright hues of your favorite colors to splash some life onto your maxi! A jean jacket makes the look more seasonally appropriate so don't be afraid to push the envelope!

Go shopping for your favorite new maxi at Polyvore and your other "go-to" department stores! Here's a little trick of the trade fashion hint for you: if you have a maxi dress, you can fold over the top, belt it, and wear as a skirt! Secret's out! Not go try!
