Roll Em Up!

Ladies, it's time to roll up your sleeves and get a bit dirty. Well, not dirty, but we do want you to roll your sleeves properly! This trend has been showing it's staying power all through fall and winter. Plain long sleeves can be such a drag and are often times too lengthy and give too much coverage. Rolling your sleeves is the perfect solution to create a fun, casual look.

We first saw this trend with the leaking of plaid shirts back into our wardrobe rotation. Flannel shirts are the perfect item for colder months but wearing them with the full sleeve transports a girl from cocktail hour to plowing a farm field down south. To make this item cute and trendy, roll the sleeves to just below OR just above the elbow! Either length works for women, but men must be wary of this length.

Jean tops are also the perfect candidate for the sleeve roll! For these items, you can have a messy cuff or clean rolled line. The neatly rolled detail makes this look more presentable for nice restaurants or date night! The messy cuff is perfect for casual days and for tucking over a sweater sleeve.
Check out this J. Crew consultant's blog for more rolling tips.

For fun long sleeve dresses or casual button down shirts, you can pair a nice coat, cardigan or jacket over the look for layering and roll your item OVER the overcoat! This provides a layered look that gives dimension to your ensemble. Just be sure to roll the items together so they stay up for all day wear.

Blazers are a hot item to roll up! Often times, the liner of a blazer is a fun accessory all in itself!

Most people tuck the cuff of the sleeve in and roll that up, but the cuff is a fun detail on the outfit. Therefore, you should take the cuff and bring it up to the elbow, THEN roll the remaining part of the sleeve up to the elbow. This way the cuff is always showing. For jackets never roll more than three inches above the elbow. Now roll out and roll up!
