Once a month, my dear friend and MAC makeup artist, Jessica will be giving us a peek into amazing makeup tricks and application! These posts will be loaded with information of products, how to use them, and pictures along the way. I am the model [and it doesn't hurt that I'm getting a free lesson from someone who does AMAZING work, hehehe ;-)]
Here are some pictures of Ms. Jessica and her fierceeee brow!! Isn't she just the prettiest?!!
This month's makeup was inspired COMPLETELY by my 4th favorite day of the year and what the month of February means to me: Valentine's Day!!
Valentine's Day look for me by mua Jessica #macgirls! |
What was used (these in particular all MAC make-up products):
Matchmaster 0.8 foundation
NC 45 concealer
NW 43 Studio Fix powder
Spiked brow pencil
Veronica blush (highlight)
Blunt blush
Peaches blush
Current lip liner
Nicki Minaj Gloss (numbers 1 & 2)
Amber Lights eyeshadow
Embark eyeshadow
Black Track eye liner
False lashes (local department store)
1. "When applying makeup, the brow is so important" ... Rules Jessica lives by.
- Filling in the brow. Apply concealer to both top and bottom brow lines to create a highlight, then fill in the brow itself with, in my case, the brow pencil "Spiked."
2. Apply a smooth amount of eye shadow primer of your choice. Primer eliminates creases when applying eye shadow, and it also allows color(s) to pop, and makes for longer eye wear.
3. Using eye shadow brush, apply Amber Lights in eye lid and instep (inner corner of lid). Use Embark eye shadow on outer edge of eye crease, and bring upwards (almost in a sideways "U") to fill in the center of the "underbrow" (area right above the eye crease).
4. Apply concealer to under eye area.
5. Apply Matchmaster foundation to entire face. This foundation is AMAZING! I could barely feel it, and it looks as though its barely there!
6. Apply a fair amount of and Peaches blush to cheek bones, while applying Blunt brush under cheek bone, and Veronica blush on top for highlight. Carry Veronica from the top of cheek bone to the corners of eye.
7. "Valentine's Day is all about your lip" ... Another Jessica statement!
- Fill in lip with Current lip liner filling in as shown.
8. Apply both Nicki gloss 1&2 to create the plum color pictured.
9. Using lash glue, apply glue to the back of lashes. Jessica says to let the glue dry some so that it is a bit tacky before applying to the eye line- this eliminates sliding. Once glue has some tack, apply directly to lash line, hold in place for a few seconds with your hand and then allow to dry for about a full minute before retouching.
10. Finish eye by applying Black Track eye liner for a jaw dropping winged eye effect!
And there you have it! When we were finished, I couldn't believe Jessica used so much product, and still managed to make everything look so minimal! I'm so not a believer of heavy makeup, I typically just throw on my shadow (which is typically only a primer because I'm lazy [I admit!]), mascara, bronzer and hit the street! However, I loveeee what Jessica did and will definitely attempt to recreate this look for my Valentine's Day dinner! Guess that's why she's an MUA! She knows how to work it and be fierce!!
