Stiletto Story!

*What goes around comes back around...my baby*
A line from, "Best Thing I Never Had" By Beyonce,
...and the truth is, IT DOES!!!!

Guys and Dolls whether you know it or not, one of the hottest and newest nail trends, known as Stiletto Nails, is in fact not "new" at all. This nail specialty was began in the 1940s and has made its way around back again into this generation! While now the stiletto nail has a Generation X flare, it is still full of class and chic-ness!

My interest in the origins of this look came from the beautiful Barbra Streisand in her starring role in the movie, "Funny Girl"

Has a very natural look as well!

Ms. Streisand keep her nails like this for a large part of her career

Amazing Shot

Beyonce and Rihanna were two of my favorite celebs that rocked this trend out!

My favorite.. #nude

This nail trend is my absolute favorite!!! Its so sleek and chic, feminine, and classic. There is something about it that gives the hand that perfect lady like appeal. These two ladies werent the only ones that embraced the stiletto nail, even i got bit by the stiletto bug! I love ALL things vintage so I had to give this a try. Check out my ode to stiletto nails!

I loved loved loved loveddddd rocking these nails..they were tons of fun [texting was a bit of an issue but I made it through!! :-)]

This look became very popular VERY fast, see pictures below

Tips dipped in red #fun

Shorter but still round

It's time to go a little deeper into our studies! The diagram below depcits a variety of nail shapes and types. Every nail shown, with the exception of number 3 and 5, can be considered a form of the stiletto nail trend. Notice how some are more round, shorter and even sharper than others.

As usual, I couldn't leave without a quick history lesson!

Studies show that this look originated in Europe and Russia, and became popular in the United States some time between the 1940's to 1960's. (more info here)
...Told you it was quick!

Check out some extra vintage shots of the original round/stiletto shape nail trend :

Stiletto Nails are yet another example of a little old school meets new school...pretty neat huh?!

Ladies next time you're at the nail salon, try something new and go for a classy round shape! If you are daring enough, don't stop there- keep going for a more sharper/ pointy look! Take on stiletto, try something new, have some fun! I dare ya!!!! :-)
