Jeans: Get Your Fit

A good pair of jeans are a life saving piece of clothing. However, women are constantly buying denim that doesn't flatter or properly suit their figures. A poorly made pair of jeans can ruin your entire outfit and make you look heavier than you actually are. A well fitted pair of jean pants is a must have in your wardrobe and are well worth the investment.

A blog named "Grasping for Objectivity" exposes how cheaper pairs of Old Navy and Gap jeans make for "mom butts" and are unflattering to the figure as compared to higher end brands. Gap skinny jeans make your hips appear wider than the Express style and the Gap boot cut makes your butt look flat and long as opposed to the Hudson brand that makes your rear look tight and perky. The same goes for Gap long and lean as well as straight styles. Although Antik and Rock & Republic jeans are more expensive, they are definitely worth the extra cash.

Furthermore, darker styles are more slimming to the figure. Lighter denim does not hide any curve or line on your rear or thighs. The darker styles blend into your curves and give you a leaner appearance. The Old Navy styles above are light denim and unforgiving to your body. The Diva and Sweetheart styles give you "Mom Butt" whereas the darker designer styles are flattering to the same exact woman. When it comes to jeans, the darker the better.

Now you've been exposed to the pitfalls of jean colors and brands. You should find the style and designer that best fits you then follow these tips on how to best wear your new threads. There are six main styles to wear your jeans: rolled with flats, rolled with booties, long and lean with heels, boyfriend style with heel, skinnies tucked into knee-high boots, or flared with platforms. Whatever your style, there is a jean rule for you.

Rolled with Flats:

Are you a stickler for feet comfort? Then this look is for you! Flats are the epitome of comfort for daywear style. You can walk miles in these shoes without an ache or pain while looking adorable too. To wear jeans with these shoes you must go cropped. Skinny jeans with one roll is the look for ballet flats.

The reason this is so appealing is because it draws the eye to the lighter cuff color and therefore, your shoe. You can show off your slim ankles and flirty styles with the single roll. Furthermore, you never want your jeans dragging on the floor. By cropping your jeans to suit your flats, the bottom of your pants will never pick up dirt.

Two Rolls with Ankle Boots:

Booties are cute footwear for this upcoming season. They are versatile for warm and cold weather. Ankle boots look darling with skirts, tights or jeans! When wearing jeans with these short boots, you want to show them off and never cover them with your pant legs. You should roll your jeans twice to show the full boot up to your ankle. This daytime look is super casual and trendy for walking about. Black jeans are a popular style for this look. You can wear tight or loose fitting jeans with these shoes.

Long and Slouchy with Pumps:

Long and tailored jeans are perfection with high heels. Super thin pumps look smashing with long, semifitted jeans for a causal yet sexy look. This combination can be worn for a day to night look with a blazer or sparkly top. You want your jeans to be slightly loose as to not give the painted on appearance. Because your shoes are aggressive, you don't want to push the envelope too much with super tight jeans. Statement heels are a perfect fit for denim because they make leopard and other outrageous prints very wearable. Black, tan or red pumps are a classic combination with jeans and are fabulous with any top.

Boyfriend Cut with Heels:

Boyfriend jeans are all the rage this Fall. The loose fit is flirty and slimming. The looser fit gives you a thinner appearance as if you are too tiny for your own jeans. This very fun look is also suggestive that you're down to earth because you can hang, and dress, like the boys. Putting a heel with these pants gives you a feminine edge and dresses up the boyish cut.

In order to make this trend girly, you must dress it up with formal accessories and tops. Jewelry, sunglasses and blazers are great to accompany this look. Super cute belts and bags also dress up these usually ripped denim pants.

Knee Highs and Skinnies:

This look is a celebrity favorite. Stars like Cameron Diaz and Victoria Beckham love to wear their skinny jeans with high top boots. The tight jeans look slimming and elongate your legs with the knee high footwear. You can wear this style as a formal or casual outfit. Coats and flannel accompany this fit with amazing class. Your feet will be warm all winter and you'll look amazing.

Socks are a must have for this wear. You can wear knee highs over the edge of your boots or fold your jeans to fit into lower socks. If you don't have skinny jeans, follow the How To graphic above to turn your jeans into a wearable knee high style.

Platforms and Flares Jeans:

Last but not least, the flared style is utter perfection with high soled shoes. This sixties inspired look is great with a tucked in button down and belt. You can even wear jean on jean if you're inspired by previous free love generation.

This very sultry look is available at Victoria Secret, True Religion, and Free People. Keep an eye out for this and all styles listed above at retailers at shops near you. Be sure to follow our jean fitting advice above and you'll be ready to take on the brisk weather while looking amazing.
