Scallops, Scallops Everywhere!
Want a dainty, feminine trend for this season? Well, it has officially arrived! Scallop prints are everywhere. This sea-inspired fashion is just darling on any item. The wavy ruffles have made their way onto clothing, accessories and even beauty trends. Here are some of the most popular ways to get scalloped.
Scallop dresses will make you feel like a real life mermaid! The subtle waving pattern on dresses is the most daring way to show off your scallops. White is a popular color for these dresses. The crazy cut is understated by the pale shades of white, gold or nude. Dresses can either have embellished waves in one spot, like the top or bottom only, or they can have scallops all throughout the design. The full scallop is vaguely reminiscent of the 20's flapper style with their short, tasseled frocks.
Scallops can be dressed up or down for any event. Black and darker colors lend themselves to more formal occasions. Although scalloped items are fun and flirty, with a darker edge, this design can easily translate into an evening look. Bright hues and mixed colors are also quite trendy for the nature inspired wave. Pinks, blues and other flattering tones will appear this fall in scalloped form.
Scallops can go with plenty of styles and even different fabrics for a variety of looks! A scalloped cardigan is a feminine bow is a very respectable way to rock the style and impress your boyfriend's parents. Looser blouses look great for a day at work or a day on the town. Extra embellishment works on this trend too, so go wild!
The cropped scallop tank top from Free People, as shown above, is a bold look, but if you have the figure and confidence to pull it off, then go for it! The waves give you a free spirit vibe to your outfit. The open back styles above are also a perfect way to flaunt your trendiness. The top appears average from the front until you wow a crowd with your opened, scalloped back! This is a very flirtatious look perfect for the day-to-night transition.
Scalloped shorts come in a variety of prints and styles. The high wasted short is a great option for more respectable events. Paired with a belt or statement buttons, this look is fun yet very refined. Print shorts are adorable in a scallop style. They give a Key West feel to your look and are fabulous with a jean, or plain white shirt. Lighter colors give your scallops a cleaner appearance and you are able to mix and match tops to your heart's desire!
Scallops shoes are divine for Fall. Oscar de la Renta designed the plush velvet heels above to perfection. They give almost any outfit a feminine flare. They add a playfulness to even the most basic of ensembles. You can wear a plain shirt and jeans with a scalloped shoe in order to dress to impress. Pick from an array of styles above!
Have some extra time on your hands and want in on the trend ASAP? If you can sew, stitch and cut, you're in the money! Turn a pair of your old shorts or skirt into a scalloped masterpiece! Have a crafternoon! Happy sewing!

Hi Kirstie - I'm trying to track down the dress in the upper right corner of your white dress collection - do you have any idea or remember where you found it? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi! Kirstie is in Europe for the rest of the month, however I searched for this dress for you. Unfortunately I couldn't find this one, it's probably discontinued, but I did find similar pieces by Rare Oppulence and BCBG. They didn't have the plunging neck, which I'm sure you loved, however if you like, I can help find a similar plunging neck without the scallop bottom. Shoot us an email: theplushblog@gmail.com! Talk to you soon!
