Backwards Necklaces

Necklaces are turning around for a new fashion forward trend. Backwards necklaces are hot for summer and late spring. They have been spotted on runways, in magazines and even on celebrities. We love this backwards trend and all the ways you can wear it this season.

There are so many ways to wear the look. Celebrity Kate Hudson was ahead of the trend when she wore her stunning pearl piece on the red carpet and people noticed. You can choose a dainty key or heart as a subtle backwards trend or go all out with bling and frosting in a diamond encrusted look. You can easily find a piece to suit your style.

The backwards necklace trend has traditionally been a bridal look. Women who want to look their absolute best wear these gems on their special day. Usually, brides wear this look with a backless dress, halter style or low scooping back line. Now, women want to look stylish and amazing on days other than their wedding.

Chanel manufactured this look long before the bridal craze. They modeled this look in Paris years before and made it infamous on Nicole Kidman in their Chanel Number 5 campaign. It was in magazines, on television and on billboards everywhere. This brand can do no wrong in the fashion world and everyone knows it.

This year, two women brought back the trend for 2013 in the biggest way possible. Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway wore backwards necklaces as they accepted their awards for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. Jennifer paired her Dior Haute Couture dress with a delicate strand of beads from Chopard while Anne embellished her Prada dress with Tiffany & Co.'s diamond corsage necklace valued at $485,000. These looks inspired our necklace decisions for 2013.

The backwards necklace is undoubtedly great for dressy occasions. The jewelry item looks flawless with a low cut back or cut out backless dress. High fashion loves this look but you can wear it more casually with a minin dress or little black number if you'd like!

One thing is for sure: backless is the name of the game for this look. The pieces look best on a blank skin canvas. Much like a front necklace, you don't want too much fabric infront of your chain or pendant. The bareer the better.
