Coachella Fashion

All hail festival season! The warmer weather is upon us which means one important thing: festivals are back. Outdoor music festivals are the best part of spring and summer. The music is great, the sun is out and the fashion is prime. This season kicked off with Ultra in Miami and was soon followed by Coachella. Coachella is an arts and music festival that first started in 1999. The three day music festival is located in the deserts of California and feature some of the most alternative, indie music that is currently popular. The fashion scene in California on the two weekends is almost as unbelievable as the musical acts.

The festival is overrun with celebrities! Most concert goers spot celebs roaming freely without a body guard  They enjoy the music just like everyone else. Kelly Osborne, Vanessa Hudgens and Kate Bosworth are among the frequent attendees for the event. Their fashion choices help them blend with the crowd and enjoy the bohemian culture that surrounds the event.

Festival fashion often begs the question: which came first, the chicken or the egg? Did high fashion inspire hippie fashion or did the alternative dress inspire runway trends? It is a little of both. The 1960's anti-war movement also adorned the same fashions seen at Coachella. These retro, loose fitting clothing show appreciation of the earth and demonstrate little concern for earthly, high cost possessions.

The looks above are a simple guide to looking fabulous at these festivals. Tribal or loose flowing floral tops are a great way to show your earth love. A crop top or bandeau are also popular looks. Patterned skirts, shorts or pants are also chic for the event. A free flowing dress is a good way to stay and look cool at the shows as well.

High waisted shorts are a must this summer. Vintage Levis are making a strong comeback at these events and have been spotted on celebs and fashionistas last weekend at Coachella. They look great with a crop-top or a one piece suit. The high waist tucks in your tummy and flaters your bum.

As far as accessories are concerned, the more the better. You'll want to stack your bracelets and rings as much as you can. Turquoise is the stone to be seen and other tribal accessories match ensembles seen in the desert. Bags should have fringe or a native American inspired print. The more vibrant the better. If you can add some flowers to your hair, by all means do! A floral crown is a dainty and feminine accessory for your concert garb.

The three main items you need to make your concert going experience trendy are crochet, fringe and American Flag inspired pieces. Check out the Windsor lookbook for more concert ideas on how to be Coachella and festival ready.
