These Bandanas are Bananas

Bandanas are a trendy accessory for Spring and Summer. As the weather heats up, us gals need a way to tie our locks back in style. Bandanas are the perfect Bohemian solution to this weather conundrum. They look stylish and laid back with any casual look. You can go vintage western or a Spring inspired floral rag. Whatever you wear, we have the down-low looks for you.

This look was obviously spawned from The Rosie the Riveter look from the 1942 World War II efforts to promote women in the workplace. This adorable vintage look has spawned again for a second life. Vintage pinup inspired ladies love this look for a hot summer day in the 21st century! The tie on top makes the look soft and feminine mixed with a "We Can Do It" attitude.

Models and celebrities have been seen sporting the trend while caught on camera. Designers love this bandana look for their Spring lines and Rihana loves the look for a casual day out. Find different patterns to wear with your laid back shirt or a statement piece for a more proper ensemble.

The Western paisley print is the most popular bandada for this headband look. You can tie it up in a skinny or thick fashion to support a bun, pony tail or your layered down locks. You can tie it in traditional Rosie the Riveter fashion or flip the bow in back for a flatter, more subtle look.

Urban Outfitters is capitalizing on this trend. Right now in stores, Urban is selling these head scarves for under $20! You can shop on your lunch break or sneak online to purchase one at their accessories section of their website.

To create this look from any bandana you have around the house, the only skill you need is folding ability. First, lay out the bandana to almost look like a diamond. Then, from the corner on the bottom, fold to the desired length (I personally like skinny headbands.) and keep folding until you get to the other corner. Next, take the two ends in both hands and bring to the back of your head. Finally, with the two ends still in your hand and the bandana still at the nape of your neck, bring the ends over to the top of your head and make a knot. Or follow the tutorial below to DIY!
